How John Travolta Achieved a Net Worth of $170 Million

John Travolta is an American actor who has managed to amass a net worth of an estimated $170 million. He’s one of the biggest names in Hollywood and through the decade of his long and successful career. How did he become so incredibly wealthy? Was it strictly fro his career as an actor? John Travolta’s early years

Travolta was born in Englewood, New Jersey in 1954. He seemed like an unlikely youth for becoming a multi-millionaire when he dropped out of school at the age of 16 years old. He ended his education and traded it in for a career in acting. This was his true passion and he was serious enough about making a go of it to walk away from high school.

His career in acting

In 1972, John Travolta made his debut in acting in a theatrical version of “Rain.” Next, he became a member of the Broadway cast of the production of “Grease.” He didn’t land the starring role but rather was on call as a replacement member. His big acting break came in 1975 when he landed the role of Vinnie Barbarino in “Welcome Back Kotter.” The show developed a cult following and he became known as the leader of the Sweathogs. The television series became a big hit and afterwards, he landed the lead in the movie “The Boy in the Plastic Bubble.”

His career intensified

It wasn’t long before John Travolta became an actor who was in high demand. He appeared in the horror movies “The Devil’s Rain” and “Carrie,” followed by one of his most memorable roles as the lead male character in the movie “Saturday Night Fever” which was a huge success that led to his next role in the similar genre film “Grease” with Olivia Newton-John. Travolta exhibited his dancing and singing talents in the movie that brought in almost $400 million at the box office.

A quieter time

During the 1980s, Travolta’s career cooled a bit and he was no longer landing the big roles until he returned in 1994 co-starring with Samuel L. Jackson in the cult classic “Pulp Fiction.” This set a new trend in his acting career with a role that was darker than the others. The next year he appeared in “Get Shorty,” followed by “Broken Arrow,” “Primary Colors” in 1998 and “Swordfish” in 2001.” He was back on the schedule and returned in 2007 co-starring in the comedic film “Wild Hogs,” followed by “Old Dogs” in 2009. These are just a few of the many films that he starred in during his era.

An Award Winning Actor

John Travolta has been recognized for his contributions to the world of entertainment. He has received multiple nominations as well as winning awards from many different venues. His role in “Saturday Night Fever” earned his a Best Actor” at the Oscars for 1978. He won again in 1995 for his role in “Pulp Fiction.” In all, John Travolta has received 56 award nominations and a total of 51 wins. This is impressive for any actor.
