Syracuse University is located in Syracuse, New York and it has a rich history that goes back more than 175 years. The private research university was established in 1931 under the name of the Genesee Wesleyan Seminary under the direction of the Methodist Episcopal Church with the original location in Lima, New York. It since moved to Syracuse and has become one of the more desirable universities in the area. Syracuse University has an acceptance rate of just 52 percent of all applicants and a graduation rate of 80 percent. 1. M. J. Rose

M.J. Rose is an alumni of Syracuse University who has enjoyed a successful career as both an author and a business woman. She wrote a blog called “Museum of Mysteries” which she runs. She also co-founded the International Thriller Writers and AuthorBuzz companies which are businesses for marketing and for authors. She wrote her first novel in 1998, titled “Lip Service” and Ms. Rose has been featured in multiple publications including New York Magazine, Time magazine, The New York Times, Newsweek, Working Woman and Forbes.

2. P.O. Ackley

P.O. Ackley is another famous alumni of Syracuse University who became a successful business person. He had a passion and love for guns and growing up with guns, he learned everything about them. He honed his talent and became a world renowned gunsmith. He founded his own company called P.O. Ackley, Inc. and he served as the CEO of the company as well as the master gunsmith.

3. Daniel A. D’Aniello

Daniel A. D’Aniella graduated with his four year degree from Syracuse University in 1968 magna cum laude. He continued his education and earned an MBA degree in 1974 from the Harvard Business School. After college, he obtained work at TWA an Pepsico as a financial officer. He continued to learn a great deal about finance and in 1987, he co founded the Carlyle Group with David Ruberstein and William E. Conway Jr, and Mr. D’Aniello is the chairman of the board of the group and he also sits on multiple advisory boards.

Al-Waleed bin Talal attended Syracuse University and he went on to become a multi-billionaire. He owns a stake in teh Lyft company, Citigroup, Twitter, the Hotel George V, The Savoy Hotel in London, the Four SEasons Hotels & Resorts as well as founding the Kingdom Holding Company throughout the Middle East, the United States and Europe. He’s a Soudi Arabian Investor who also holds the title of Prince and his estimated net worth is $18.7 billion.

5. William J. Brodsky

William J. Brodsky graduated from Syracuse University with an AB degree and he continued on to also complete his JD degree, as well as passing his bar Bar exam to practice law in the states of New York and Illinois. In 2013, he became the Chairman of Nay Pier Inc. He is also the director of Integrys Energy Group and of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He currently serves as the Executive Chairman of the Board of CBOE Holdings as well as the Chicago Board Options Exchange.

Mr. Donofrio earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering fro Rensselaer Polytechic Institute in 1967, and went on to earn a master’s degree in the field in 1971 from Syracuse University. 13. Richard Menschel

Richard Menschel earned his bachelor of science degree from Syracuse University in 1955. He continued his education,enrolling in the Master of Business Education at Harvard University. He received his degree in 1959. After completing his education, he went to work for the Goldman, Sachs company as an associate securities sales administrator in New York City. He remained at this post until 1967, at which time he was promoted to the position of vice president until 1969. He continued with the company, eventually making limited partner, which position he has held since 1988 until the time of his retirement. He also serves on the board of directors for T. Rowe Price.

14. Robert Menschel

Robert B. Menschel was Senior Director and Limited Partner of Goldman Sachs & Co prior to his retirement. He joined the firm in 1954 and made partner twelve years later in 1966. Prior to going to work for Goldman Sachs, he was a member of the New York Stock Exchange, serving as a specialist on the floor. Mr. Menschel was the founder of the institutional department at Goldman Sachs, and headed the institutional sales division from 1967 through 1978 as partner. In 1979, Mr. Menschel became a limited partner. Sean O’Keefe is an alumni of Syracuse University who earned his Master’s degree in Pubic Administration from the University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He also earned a graduate degree from Loyola University. He was previously a member of th NASA team from 2001 through 2005 as an administrator. He was present when the Columbia Accident occurred and he was a part of the team that established the Columbia Accident Investigation Board. 16. Lowell W. Paxson

Lowell W. Paxson, was also known to many as Bud Paxson. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1956. After graduation he went on to enjoy a successful business career. He co-founded the Home Shopping Network along with Roy Speers in 1982. He served as the president of the company for a number of years and he also founded the Paxson Communications company.
