He had such skill that the club allowed him to become the youngest member in history. At the time, he was only seven years old. When some kids would get legos for their birthday, Rory would end up getting a golf club. That was because that was what he wanted. Through a combination of his father and other members at the club teaching him, he would continue to progress in the game of golf. He would even sleep with a golf club in order to practice just the perfect grip. It was that grip that would end up making him millions of dollars in the future.

Given the fact that Rory McIlroy was a member of a local golf club at such an early age, you might assume that his family was already wealthy. That is actually not the case. They were a working-class family that was more than happy, but they did not have a lot of money for the extras in life. That begin said, Rory’s father saw the potential in his son and ended up doing everything that he could to find the money required to get Rory to pass through the ranks necessary to eventually become a professional golfer. In fact, he would end up working several jobs just so they could afford the right coaches and trainers that they felt would give Rory the skills he needed to be the best. It was not long before Rory McIlroy would be entered in his first ever tournament. It was held for boys ages nine and ten and was held in Miami, Florida. He ended up winning the tournament, and things only looked up for him from there.

While he did not win any championships that first year, he would do extremely well in several of the tournaments that he entered. The highest finish was at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. By his second year on the Tour, he would be ranked in the top 200 in the world. Obviously, he would catapult the rankings from there. At the end of 2008, Rory McIlroy was ranked 39th in the world. The money was going to flow from that point on. Championships started to add up quite quickly. Endorsements followed, and they have never dried up since then. This is how he has ended up with $150 million in net worth today. He is still young and still performing well on the Professional Golf Tour, so one should expect that this number is going to continue to increase from here.
