What Kind of Beer is Coors Banquet?

Have you ever heard of Coors Banquet beer? Surprisingly, a lot of people don't seem to be all that familiar with exactly what type of beer this is. Sure, they've heard of Coors but it's the Banquet part that trips them up. It leaves a lot of people wondering whether or not Coors has developed some brand new type of product that they somehow managed to be completely unaware of. Truth be told, it's really not that new at all. If you want to get technical about things, it might be considered a new ad campaign but it's definitely not a new product in and of itself. If it all seems confusing right now, just keep reading. It will all get sorted soon enough.

Coors Product History

It's worth noting that Coors got its start back in 1873. At the time, it was just Coors. There weren’t several products that they needed to distinguish, so there was no need to attach another name to denote a specific product. That said, it didn’t take long for the company to start making those additional products. As time progressed, it got to the point where they had their regular version and a light version, one they called Coors Lite. During the 1980s, they also had a product they called Coors Extra Gold. It was meant to be the best product that you could purchase. Many people even referred to it as their flagship product. It’s interesting to note that there was a brief point in time when Coors actually sold a product called “flagship.” Obviously, they have had a number of different products over the years. If you’re wondering how Coors Banquet plays into things, it all comes down to this. The company has tweaked their recipe a number of times over the years. This has been to the liking of some and the dislike of others. The truth is, there was enough backlash that the company eventually decided to create Coors Banquet. In reality, it was nothing more than the original recipe that they had started out with. Things got even more confusing when the company had a hard time deciding what their new product should be called.

Still a Favorite

There is no doubt that Coors Original was a favorite among many of the people who love to drink products made by the company. There's no doubt that people love the product but at some point, what was once known as Coors Original suddenly became Coors Banquet, largely without much fanfare. This caused a lot of confusion among individuals who purchase Coors products because they weren't sure exactly what they were getting. It didn't help that Coors had long ago had a product called Coors Original which was actually different from this one. The fact that they keep changing the recipe as well as the names of their products has caused a great deal of confusion, leaving many people wondering what exactly it is that they're drinking. Fortunately, you've come to the right place if you want to know exactly what Coors Banquet is all about. All you have to do is keep reading, as all of the information that you're looking for is included herein.

What exactly Is Coors Banquet?

Coors Banquet is often referred to as an American classic. More specifically, it is a golden lager, one that has a slightly brisk taste to it. It has 5% alcohol and is complete with a bit of sweetness that accompanies its more prominent malty taste. If you are keen on the smell of your chosen alcohol, this one has a tendency to smell a lot like bread that has just been taken out of the oven. Many people report tasting a few hints of pear and even banana. Overall, it's considered to be a lager that is very well-balanced. It's interesting to note that Coors has long been considered to be one of the highest quality brands of beer out there. They absolutely insist on using water only from the Rocky Mountains, something that has been involved in their advertising campaigns for a number of years. They also handle the malting process in-house because they don't want to have any variations in quality that could potentially occur if they used a third party. While it's true that many people do indeed consider them to be the premier brand of beer in America, there is a distinct group of individuals that don't necessarily feel like any product made by Coors is the best. As a matter of fact, they would far prefer to drink something else entirely.

At the end of the day, the decision to drink Coors (or not) is just like every other decision when it comes to food and drink. It is a subjective one. Coors seems to resonate with some individuals in the extreme. In fact, some of them absolutely refuse to drink anything else. Others won't touch the product with a ten foot pole. However, it's quite obvious that the overwhelming number of individuals are more than happy to drink Coors, as it has easily been one of the highest selling brands in the United States for decades. It's so prevalent that you can find it in practically any store that sells beer. As a matter of fact, if a store is only going to sell one or two kinds of beer, you can almost bet that Coors will be right there in the midst of it all. Now that you know exactly what Coors Banquet is, you can make the decision about whether or not you might like to try it for yourself. Perhaps it will become a new favorite for you and yours.
