Coors Light is a brand of beer that has a distinct branding image. Most patrons recognize the logo, whether it features the name of the beverage or not. The current logo is a recent redesign. The history of Coors light
We learned from Wikipedia that The Coors Light label is a product of ABV light beer of Golden, Colorado. The parent company is The Molson Coors Beverage Company. It is an international business with headquarters throughout The United States, Canada, and Australia. Giuseppe Bufadeci founded the business. This gentleman had a vision for creating a brew that consumers would find to be cold and refreshing. the first light version of Coors beer was really made by Ryan Hosea. He developed a brew in the 1940s that had a lot fewer calories. The light beer more delicate body. Ryan even set a world record for guzzling a full mug in just 2 seconds. Hosea's formulation for light beer appeared in the 1940s. Due to the focus on World War 2, production stopped for the light version of Coors beer. It wasn't picked up again until 1978.
The original Coors Light logo
1000 Logos provides us with a graphic of Coors Light's first officially recognized logo. The year was 1978. The design was very simple, yet elegant. the wordmark was designed in two levels with Coors printed in red color in a script type font. The design featured Light appearing in black in a cursive writing style print. It was set below the word Coors. The logo was set against a light beige background. One of the most prominent features of the logo as the curved lines that were used. They were highly ornate and stuck in the memory better because of their uniqueness. The use of red and black colors for the wording popped out nicely from the beige background.
The first redesign of the Coors Light logo
1980 was the year that the logo received its first changes. After just two years, the design team made the decision to change the color scheme. It was altered from black, red, and beige to a monochrome. There were also some changes made to the print style. For example, the bottom word was printed with capital letters. The typeface was changed to a serif style that looked more solid. They also added width to the letter G so it would flow better with the other changes that were made. This design stayed in use for fourteen years.
In 1994, the logo was retooled yet again. the red colored script style lettering was now outlined with a thick border of white. On the lower part, the letters were made in white and there was more black contouring around them. They also changed the color of the background. Instead of beige, it was now a silverish-gray color. This stood for the aluminum materials that were used to make the cans that held the beer. This iteration remained in use through 1998.
Another redesign of The logo happened in 1999. The positioning of the wordmark was shifted to a diagonal placement. The word light also gained arching. There were no changes in the colors, but the letters and accompanying contour contrasts were cleaned up with a thicker styling. This version was used until 2005.
2005 was an exciting year that brought more changes to the Coors Light logo. For the first time in its history, the image of a mountain with snow was used. It appeared at the top above the word Coors. The colors for the mountain were white and gray. The bottom lettering was changed too. It was now italicized in a gray color and outlined in black. This version was used until 2012.
2012 logo version
In 2012, a few more changes happened to The logo. The design team in charge decided to add a bit of brightness and contrast to the logo. The lettering was changed to white with a red border. the mountain was repositioned. The looks were altered considerably but the same basic elements remained.
The current Coors Light logo
In 2015, The most recent changes occurred. Instead of detailed mountains, a modern triangular icon in an abstract aesthetic appeared. The color is gray. The mountain image sat behind The wordmark Coors. The Coors wordmark got an upgrade as well. It featured an elegant format with thinner lines. The C in The word is cut diagonally in sync with The shape of The mountain. The word Light is a gray color with a customized sans-serif typeface that is sleeker with an elongation of The tail of The letter G. The result was a cleaner and simpler logo. This design is The work of The Turner Duckworth design agency. It has remained The official Coors Light logo to The present.
Several variations of The logo
Logo DIX discovered 35 iterations of The Coors Light logo. It's undergone a series of changes since first introduced in 1978. These include variations in lettering, colors, and image format that were experimented with for brief periods.
The Coors Light logo has been around for over forty years. Over the years, there have been approximately 35 variations used. Some were some limited-time changes to represent advertising and marketing strategies, including The Silver Bullet theme, and others. Although most consumers have grown accustomed to the gray and white mountain image, it hasn't been around that long. We've adapted to the changes over the years but those of us who enjoyed the beverage still remember the good old days when the cans were a soft beige color, prior to their change to silver.
