The 10 Best 600cc Motorcycles Money Can Buy

The 600cc motorcycle segment is one of the most popular in the industry. Some riders refuse to ride anything else. Why? Because they combine the best of both worlds. They're light and nimble enough to make the commute a breeze but fast and powerful enough to deliver plenty of excitement. If you're looking for a bike that will tempt you with its manageability before thrilling you with its speed, a 600cc makes an excellent choice. But which models are going to give you the best bang for your buck? Which ones are going to tick every box in your wish list? To help you separate the best from the rest, we've rounded up the 10 best 600cc motorcycles money can buy. Without further ado, here they are.

10. Yamaha R6

Hotcars.com thinks the Yamaha R6 is one of the best 600cc motorcycles around. So do we. With its razor-sharp handling, revvy engine, and impressive top speeds, this is a versatile bike that will never leave you shame-faced, no matter what the competition is riding. No year is a bad year, but if you can find a model from 2008 onwards, so much the better. Models from earlier years are great on the track, but lack the day-to-day comfort of the later models.

9. CCM Spitfire Bobber

If you're in the market for a lightweight adventure bike, the CCM Spitfire Bobber makes a great choice. Its enduro-derived 600cc engine delivers a respectable 55 horsepower. Its featherweight, tubular steel frame has been stripped of anything not 100 percent necessary, resulting in a nimble, athletic machine that delivers punchy performance, sweet handling, and the perfect balance of form and function.

8. Honda CBR600RR

In creating the CBR600RR, Honda says they've created a bike that allows the highest degree of connection between rider and motorcycle, allowing for a more rewarding ride than ever before. They may well have succeeded. The high revving inline-four engine is responsive and snappy, delivering 117 h, 49 lb-ft of torque, and top speeds of 160 mph. The handling is a dream, managing even the sharpest of bends with ease. If you've tried and loved the CBR500 but are ready to graduate to something with a little more heft, the CBR600RR could well be your perfect match.

7. Triumph Trident 660

For a while, Triumph took itself out of the 600cc game. Even the classic 600cc Street Triple was given a new engine and moved on to the 750 and 1000cc segments. And then along came the Trident 660 and suddenly, we all remembered what we'd always loved about Triumph 600cc's. Not that the Trident is a re-hash of old ideas. This punchy street naked is a lean, contemporary gem of a bike, with a snappy engine that delivers a very decent 80 hp and 47 lb-ft of torque and a superb balance of performance and utility. If you're looking for a bike that's nippy enough to handle city riding and nifty enough to deliver on the track, it won't disappoint.

6. Aprilia RS660

Want something fast and furious but still light enough on its feet to offer superb handling? Then look no further than the Aprilia RS660. Instantly recognizable as an Aprilia thanks to its triple headlight and strong lines, the RS660 looks like a dynamic, purposeful motorcycle and it acts the part. If you're looking for something shy and retiring, look away now. If you want an innovative, sophisticated hunk of a machine that offers as much cut and thrust as a 600cc ever will, you've found it.

5. Suzuki GSX-R600

As Cycle World notes, the Suzuki GSX-R600 is a race-ready midweight supersport machine powered by a very adequate liquid-cooled 599cc four-cylinder engine. Delivering excellent performance on both the track and the city streets, the bike is imbued with enough bells and whistles to keep you interested, but not so many as to prove a distraction from the main show. Capable, potent, and blessed with precise handling, the GSX - R600 is a great machine at a very reasonable price.

4. MV Agusta 675 F3

If the thought of speeding along at 160 mph gets your heart pumping, prepare to meet the next big love of your life, the MV Agusta 675 F3. Speed is by no means the only thing the bike has going for it. Any unwanted vibrations are swiftly dealt with thanks to a balancer shaft. Its low, sleek profile is a thing of beauty, as are its modern aerodynamics and angular lines. It's got the performance, it's got the style... it's got everything, in fact, except for the numbers. Only 400 bikes are released every year - something that might keep their resale value high but makes finding one something of a chore. If you do strike it lucky and find a dealership with one to spare, prepare for one of the best rides of your life.

3. Triumph Daytona 675R

Refined, elegant, yet still capable of belting out top speeds of a massive 165 mph, the Daytona 675R proves exactly why Triumph is such a well-respected name. As one of the fastest supersports on the market, this isn't a bike for those who like to amble along politely. It's designed for riders who want to get from A to B in the shortest amount of time and look mighty fine doing it. If you're used to sluggish machines that fail to make good on their promises, the Daytona 675R will be a breath of fresh air.

2. Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R

Named as one of the best 600cc motorcycles around, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R has more power, speed, torque, and revs than almost any other 600cc supersport around. On the track, the high revving engine delivers 127 horsepower and tops speeds of 175 mph - the fastest speed of any other bike in the segment. A full complement of rider safety features ensures worry-free riding. The handling is superb: no matter how sharp the bend or tight the corner, the ZX6R will take it like the pro it is. If you want a bike that will undercut the competition without breaking a sweat, this is the one for you.

1. Benelli TNT 600i

The Benelli TNT 600i is a naked street motorcycle with an angular, stripped-back frame, an attractive, lean aesthetic, and a performance that will blow your socks off. Its powerful engine is capable of producing an impressive 83.90 hp at 11,500 rpm and maximum torque of 40.27 lb-ft at 10,500 rpm. For raw, visceral power, it's a hard machine to beat.
