These days, most watches are designed to make a statement. That includes some of the lesser quality watches as well as incredibly high-end timepieces. In almost every case, they are designed to get the attention of virtually everyone in the room. The overwhelming majority of the time, that is accomplished by making them larger and more noticeable.
As such, most watches that are popular today are at least 42 mm in diameter and the overwhelming majority of them sit so high on the wrist that they virtually take on a life of their own. That's all well and good if that's the type of style you're going for, but what if you're looking for a high-end watch that breaks all the current rules of fashion? In that case, you might want to know more about the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Sejima Edition. It is truly something to behold and it doesn't follow any of the supposed style rules that everyone else goes by today.
Breaking All the Rules
The first thing you'll notice about this watch is that it is finished in exquisite monochromatic detail, every minimalist, thin square inch of it. It is the brainchild of Bulgari designers and it pays homage to Kazuyo Sejima, a Japanese architect that is well known for her outstanding minimalist designs. In much the same way that she designs architecture with clean lines, never creating something that doesn't serve a purpose, so too is this watch designed.
There is absolutely nothing on it that is there just for the sake of showing off. Instead, everything serves a purpose. As such, it takes on a whole new purpose of its own. It will definitely get the attention of everyone in the room, but not for the same reason that those monster watches will. In this case, it's because you're looking at something that is truly different from everything else available on the market. Of course, it doesn't hurt that it looks great and performs just as you would expect a watch from Bulgari to perform.
Good Things Comes in Small Packages
This watch serves as proof that good things do indeed come in small packages. It is 36.60 mm in diameter, smaller than most watches available today. However, the real surprise comes from how thin the watch is. As a matter of fact, it's only 2.23 mm in height. This easily makes it one of the thinnest watches available for purchase. Even if you trace things back to a time when watches weren't designed to be these standalone fashion pieces, it's still thinner than almost everything else available on the market.
That fact alone makes it an interesting timepiece. People who are in the know are usually interested in figuring out how Bulgari managed to fit everything into such a small package. As a matter of fact, most watchmakers will probably tell you that it’s not even possible to do so, not when you're talking about dimensions like this. Nevertheless, they have done exactly that. Most of this is largely due to its BLV138 automatic caliber movement. It's also worth noting that the watch offers more than 60 hours of reserved power, something that most larger watches aren't even capable of providing.
Style That Lasts
There is no doubt about it, this is a watch that is designed to look fabulous for decades to come. As you already know, the entire watch, along with its stainless steel case and bracelet, are designed in a monochromatic fashion so that everything appears to be the same color. What you might not be keenly aware of is that the face of the watch itself is designed with thousands of little monochromatic dots that sometimes seem to almost disappear. At other times, they create unique patterns that can be seen quite clearly, depending on the way the light strikes them. It almost makes the watch look like it has thousands of tiny little diamonds shining in the sunlight. It definitely kicks up the style by several notches and it makes the watch look like a true work of art without being ostentatious in the process.
A Truly Limited Design
The design of the watch itself is very unique, especially the aforementioned mirrored design that you see on its face. It is also a design that is meant to be limited. Bulgari never intended to produce a large number of these watches. In fact, the number produced is astonishingly small. They will only be producing 360 of them, so if you want yours, it's imperative that you get it while you still can. Once they're gone, they're gone. Every one of the watches comes with its own unique serial number and it even comes in a special mirrored box that mimics the design of the watch itself.
Any person who loves watches is going to want to get their hands on one of these. They definitely don't come cheap, as the starting price is set at 14,700 euros. For those of you that are curious, that is $14,244.30 in US dollars. Granted, it may not be the most economical watch that you'll ever have the opportunity to purchase, but it is one of the most remarkable timepieces in existence. It's also very competitive when you consider its price tag with other high-end watches.
There is no doubt that this watch from Bulgari will be one that people will be trying to get their hands on for decades to come. They have done what many other watchmakers can only hope to do. It has everything that any person could ever hope for, including style and quality of workmanship that is truly second to none. All of that, backed by the Bulgari name, means that it will unquestionably be highly sought after and thoroughly enjoyed.
