10 Benefits of Having a Comerica Credit Card

When having to choose which credit card to apply for, there are literally hundreds of options available, even if you have horrible credit. You may pay a very high APR as a result of your financial missteps, but credit is still available. If you are shopping online for a credit card you will have to go through the process of comparing rates, credit limits, and the usual task of discovering which banks offer the best package of benefits for their cards.

Comerica Bank has a number of unique features and benefits that are worth a second look. We are listing these benefits so you don’t have to go searching through their website or get misinformation from a competing bank website. Sometimes the biggest benefits are the ones most easily overlooked.

1. Comerica is the 40th largest bank in the United States.

It is also the largest bank whose headquarters is located in Texas. Why is this important to choosing a credit card? Because being in the Top 50 banks offers a degree of financial security while not being so big as to lose track of who their customers really are. Anyone who has had to deal with huge companies knows that personalized service is a thing of the past. Comerica’s size is just right for feeling safe and getting the personalized attention you are hoping for.

2. Their starting APR has been praised by many customers.

People who have a strong credit history often find getting a decent APR on a new card challenging. While any decision the bank makes about a credit card APR will heavily be influenced by the applicant’s credit history, the difference of 1 or 2 points can mean the difference of hundreds or even thousands of dollars in annual interest costs. If you think you’ve found the lowest APR, take the time to see what Comerica is offering before making a final decision.

3. They have several different credit cards to choose from.

Often a bank will have the card for you to apply for. It may come in several colors or logos, but they offer the card and that’s it. Comerica has 6 different cards you can apply for, each having their own benefits and rewards. Their Detroit Tigers card is perfect for Tigers fans whether they are in first place or last. This enables you to get the right card that is best for your particular financial situation.

4. Their College Card for students is awesome.

Banks love to give college students credit, knowing they are likely to use it for everything from books and supplies to pizza and beer. Comerica’s College Card lets you build up an unlimited number of rewards points during your college days, and you have 5 full years to redeem those points after graduation. Banks will sell you the idea of having a credit card as a means of learning about finances, but their College Card lets you actually plan 5 years in advance (if you are patient enough).

5. There is a card intended to be used primarily as a grocery shopping card.

If you are someone who likes to keep things separate and financially flexible, Comerica has a Flexible American Express card that exactly fits that need. Rather than trying to separate out food and gas expenses, their Flexible Card gives you some great cashback and point rewards while keeping those purchases separate from your other credit card needs.

6. There is also a separate card available for heavy travelers.

People who travel a lot for business or pleasure will be rewarded with their American Express Premier card. Tailored specifically to reward frequent travelers, you can rack up rewards points and get reimbursed for either Global Entry or TSA Pre Check In expenses. But it also has a generous points program for eating in restaurants.

7. Their Detroit Tigers credit card.

Being a true baseball fan means you will always support your team, win or lose. Tigers fans will love this card but more importantly it is advertised as a card that has been “designed to help you save on interest and pay down your other credit card balances faster.” That is the Detroit Tigers Visa Platinum Card, and VISA is one of the world’s most accepted card names. But more than this, the card allows you and 3 guests to use the Comerica VIP entrance at Comerica Park. No waiting in lines. You are also eligible to enter to win 4 reserved seats at home games, and there is no purchase necessary.

8. It offers the latest in credit card security technology.

The EMV smart chip technology is embedded on the card to prevent fraudulent use and is an added layer of protection for your account. It saves you time going through checkouts and makes paying at the register easier.

9. It can be used with Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay

Mobile payments are quickly becoming a normal part of in-store shopping. But you also use these mobile payment methods online and in-app, to give you the maximum amount of flexibility when using your card.

10. Its nearly 600 branches across the country.

There are also Comerica financial services available in Canada and Mexico, so whether you are on the East or West coast or North or South of the border, there is a good chance you will find Comerica there to help you. Comerica began operations 169 years ago, and is still standing, providing the banking and credit card services you need to manage your finances in today’s digital world.
