The Hamptons in New York is known as a wealthy enclave and a hot spot filled with grand vacation homes, pricey boutiques, and fabulous eateries. The restaurants there run the gamut from classic American to international cuisine, but they all have one thing in common: trendiness and expensive menus. While some of the Hamptons' dining options are either over-hyped or underwhelming, a certain few stand out as being worth every penny.

Here are ten of the finest restaurants in the Hamptons.

1. CowFish Hampton Bays


Along Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays sits CowFish, a seafood and sushi eatery with rustic decor and lovely canal views. The atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxed, but still retains an upscale feel. Popular menu items include the lobster stuffed mushrooms, clam chowder, rotisserie chicken, and seared Ahi. Weekend brunch is another favorite at CowFish, and in addition to serving peach and mango bellinis and mimosas, the restaurant offers delicious entrees such as croque madame, bananas foster French toast, and benedict Rockefeller, a twist on the classic eggs benedict that includes fried oysters, creamed spinach, and bacon.

2. East Hampton Grill


East Hampton Grill is a bistro with an open kitchen and bar that's popular with tourists and residents of the Hamptons alike. It's a prime place to go if you want a casual vibe and a well prepared steak or ribs. The menu features classic American fare including tuna tartare, lobster sandwiches, crab cakes, prime rib roast, and pan fried sole. The wine list at East Hampton Grill is well curated, and the menu also has several tasty cocktails such as the Double B, Smuggler's Old Fashioned, and Ginger Royale, which contains champagne, ginger liqueur, and a lemon twist.

3. Bay Kitchen Bar


Tucked in East Hampton Springs, Bay Kitchen Bar has a great beachy vibe and there are few better places to watch the sunset while you dine. 4. Highway Restaurant and Bar


East Hampton's Highway Restaurant and Bar has a beautiful and rustic fireplace dining area inside, and the ambiance is classy and relaxed. For weekend brunch, Highway Restaurant and Bar offers a nice selection of entrees such as avocado toast, rib-eye steak and eggs, and smoked Norwegian salmon. During the rest of the week, the menu features new American fare.

5. Palm Restaurant


Palm Restaurant in East Hampton is an upscale steakhouse that offers choice cuts of meat, seafood, and a delectable selection of wines. It's become known as one of local celebrity Ina Garten's favorite places to dine, and the quality of the food is excellent. The menu includes specialties such as filet mignon, Nova Scotia lobster, veal Milanese, and chicken parmigiana. The Palm also has a three course Power Lunch Menu that's a good value.

6. 1770 House Restaurant


East Hampton Village's 1770 House Restaurant is a contemporary tavern with traditional decor and a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. The menu is mainly comprised of American fare and bistro classics, such as foie gras, truffled risotto, and beef short loin. This is a good place to eat in the Hamptons if you like healthy and whole foods, as the salads are excellent and there are plenty of fresh vegetarian sides to choose from.

7. Harvest on Fort Pond


Hamptons restaurant Harvest on Fort Pond, which is in Montauk, is a good pick if you feel like eating Italian food. The restaurant's decor is charming and rustic, the waterfront views from inside and out are amazing, and it's a nice place to bring family. Some of the dishes served there include calamari salad, grilled pizzas, veal bolognese, and swordfish piccata. Red and white wines are offered by the glass, and the eatery also offers bottled and draught beer. The mojitos there are tasty, and you'll definitely be tempted to try one of Harvest on Fort Pond's desserts.

8. Stone Creek Inn


In East Quogue you'll find Stone Creek Inn, which is housed inside of a beautiful and stately Victorian building. The menu features French-Mediterranean cuisine and dishes such as farro ragu, rack of lamb, foie gras, and roast duck. You can choose the prix-fix menu or opt to eat a la carte, but you won't want to miss the desserts. The pavlova and Strawberry Cartwheel are fabulous, and the Campfire Delight is perfect for chocolate lovers.

9. Nick & Toni's


Nick & Toni's has been a long-time Hamptons establishment, and throughout the years it's remained fashionable and upscale. Located in East Hampton, the restaurant's farmhouse setting perfectly complements the natural beauty surrounding it, and the food is superb. Dinner and brunch are offered, and you'll find entrees such as oven roasted fish, grilled NY strip steak, and gourmet wood fired pizzas.

10. South Edison


South Edison is a Hamptons restaurant that has caused quite a bit of buzz in recent years. The Montauk eatery serves casual American cuisine, fresh seafood, and creative cocktails in a trendy and casual setting. The restaurant's raw oyster bar is impressive and locally sourced, and the rest of the menu features dishes such as truffle fries, soft shell crab, house made pasta, and pan seared sea scallops. Popular signature drinks at South Edison include the Bamboo Cooler, Montauk Mojito, and Makin' It Famous, which is a combo of avocado, lime, aperol, grapefruit liqueur, and chili infused mezcal.
