10 Things You Didn't Know about Mark Ruddock

Mark Ruddock

What do you know about Mark Ruddock, the CEO of Nuula? Unless you read magazines like Forbes or something similar, you probably don't know a lot. If you're inclined to learn a few more things about who he is and what drives him, read through this list of 10 things about him below. When you're done, you'll have a much better idea of who he really is.

1. He loves helping small businesses succeed

One of his favorite things involves helping other people succeed. That is precisely why he works so hard to help make Nuula a success. In reality, it's all about making sure that small business owners have the tools they need at their fingertips to succeed in their own right. The truth is, he uses his own experience to make sure that other people don't make the same mistakes he did as he was coming up through the ranks.

2. He knows practically every facet of business

He's always quick to point out that he understands business better than most because he has been involved with practically every facet of it at one time or another. As such, he has founded startups of his own and then headed them up, even selling them for a profit. By the same token, he has stepped into the position of CEO of well-established companies, all in a bid to help them perform better than they had in the past. He's also held practically every position in between, something that he brings to other business owners who are trying to navigate their way through everything.

3. He’s fearless

Clearly, he hasn't achieved all of the things that he has in his professional life without taking a few leaps of faith. He admits that he's rather fearless when it comes to business decisions. In fact, he has said before that the thing that scares him most is being too afraid to make a decision. As far as he's concerned, even when the decision isn't the right one, it's still better than taking absolutely no action whatsoever.

4. He loves taking photographs

When he's not working, he loves taking photographs as art. He has previously mentioned that it doesn't even matter what the subject matter is as much as the fact that he is taking the photograph itself. As such, he takes photos of all kinds of things, ranging from people to still life. For him, it's about having a hobby that he loves and trying to perfect it in order to get it as close to perfection as possible.

5. He’s got a good sense of humor

Like so many other CEOs, he has proven over the years that he has a healthy sense of humor. It's practically a necessity to survive in the world of business and he has definitely developed his own sense of humor over the years. That can often be seen in his drive and desire to succeed professionally, as well as the things that he pursues as hobbies in his personal life.

6. He’s a music lover

He does love music a great deal and has even tried his hand at putting a few of his own arrangements together. He readily admits that he doesn't possess the skill level he would like to have when it comes to this particular hobby, but it is something that he is constantly working on. He hopes that by continuing to practice it, his skills will become better developed over time.

7. He has a creative side

Obviously, he has a very creative side to himself. That fact is evidenced through his photography and his music, but it doesn't end there. It would be virtually impossible to accomplish everything he has done in his professional life without having an ability to be creative and think outside the box. In short, he finds solutions to problems when other people can't, something that requires a great deal of creativity in and of itself.

8. He loves to study people in their element

Over the years, he has learned a lot about being successful in business by studying people in their element, whatever that particular element might be. This is something that is also reflected in his photography, as he frequently enjoys taking photographs of people who are simply going about their day and doing what they would normally do during any other day. By learning more about people and their day-to-day routines, he has learned a great deal about how business operates and how people react to certain things.

9. He’s a fan of architecture

He's also a big fan of architecture. While he likes various types of architecture, he's most attracted to the big modern-day designs that incorporate sharp curves and a great deal of reflective surfaces. Perhaps it is meant as a metaphor for his life, as he considers himself to be a deep, reflective individual in his own right. Moreover, no one would ever argue the fact that the life of a CEO comes with a lot of sharp twists and turns, either.

10. He doesn’t like to have a lot of free time

One thing that he has repeatedly stated is that he doesn't like to have a lot of down time. That is one reason that he really engages himself with his music and his photography, despite having a schedule that is so busy it leaves almost no time for sleep, much less anything else. He has said in the past that when he has a lot of free time, his mind starts to wonder. Perhaps it wanders to places that he would rather not allow it to go, because he purposefully keeps himself busy at practically every turn. On the other hand, it might be as simple as the fact that he likes to feel productive. Having a lot of free time doesn't always make a person feel like they are being as productive as they could be, hence his reason for staying busy.
