10 Things You Didn’t Know About Marsh & McLennan CEO Daniel S. Glaser

Daniel S. Glaser is the CEO,Director and President of March & McLennan Companies, Inc. We highlight his career because of his interesting background and history. 1. He’s an Ivy league graduate

Dan Glaser attended Ohio Wesleyan University. This is where he completed his undergraduate studies. He went on to attend the Harvard Business School where he enrolled in the Advanced Management Program. He was successful in completing his studies and graduated with his advanced degree from the prestigious school.

2. He started in the Insurance industry in 1982

Glaser’s first job in the insurance industry was as a Marsh broker. He stayed with the company for 30 years. He served in a variety of roles in several locations including Saudi Arabia, London and New York. During his time as a broker for Marsh, he gained a great deal of experience in multiple aspects of the insurance industry and built his expertise in international relations and transactions.

3. Glaser took a break from Marsh to pursue other options

Dan Glaser accepted a position with Willis Risk Solutions. He served as the President and Chief Operating Officer for the company. He spent a total of eight years with them in their large accounts practice.

4. He joined AIG Global Energy in 2000

Daniel Glaser joined AIG Global Energy, A New York based company in 2000. In 2002, He served as their vice president and as president. He was appointd as Executive Vice President of the company’s general insurance operations in 2002 in charge of their North American operations. He was later moved to London where he served the company as their Managing Director of the operation in the UK.

5. He rejoined Marsh in 2007

Glaser returned to Marsh LLC in December of 2007 where he served as the Chairman of British American business until 2011.

6. Mr. Glaser’s skills put him in high demand

Dan Glaser was chosen for his Leadership in leadership within the financial and insurance industry. His expertise in risk management and the international affairs related to the business. Daniel Glaser is a member of the International Advisory Board of British American Business. In August of 2014 he was made the Chairman of FACI, which is the abbreviation for the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance. His opinion on important issues within the insurance industry is highly valued.

8. Glaser provides information to several boards

Daniel Glaser holds memberships on several key boards. Although his schedule is extremely busy, he doesn’t neglect any responsibilities and he offers his insights where they are needed the most. He served on the board of the International Underwriting Association, as well as serving as a member of the General Insurance Council of the Association of British Insurers and Ascot Underwriting Limited formerly. He currently serves on the Insurance Institute of American board, Ohio Wesleyan University, and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters as well as serving on the board for the Insurance Information Institute.

9. He’s one of the highest paid executives in Marsh & McClennan

Daniel S. Glaser is holding down multiple executive leadership positions with Marsh & McClennan, and he’s been doing so since 2013. This is not counting his earlier contributions to the company. He’s well paid for his efforts. As of the fiscal year ending in 2017, he was compensated with a package that amounted to $17,011,341.

10. Daniel Glaser is one of most well connected executives in the world

Daniel has been in the insurance industry for several decades. During this time he’s built up a wealth of knowledge and experience.
