Ryan Marshall is well known and respected for his role as the chief operating officer of the PulteGroup. He’s a successful business man who has made his fortune in executive leadership within the home building industry. He’s led an interesting life, and we were interested in learning more about how he came to be so successful. We were impressed with what we learned about him and would like to share 10 things that you probably didn’t know about Mr. Marshall.
1. He is a certified public accountant
Ryan Marshall attended college at the University of Utah. He earned his bachelor’s of arts degree in accounting fro the school. He understood the value of an education and he continued on to pursue a higher degree. He enrolled in the MBA program at Arizona State University and completed his program. He passed all of the requirements and earned his degree then continued on to become a certified public accountant.
2. His entire career has centered around the PulteGroup
Most of the top executives in leadership positions have a broad portfolio of positions that they’ve occupied, but Ryan has spent his entire career with this single business. He’s been extremely successful in the home building industry and is well respected for his leadership abilities. He serves two top leadership roles including President of the company in addition to his role as CEO.
3. Mr. Marshall is a multi-millionaire
Ryan Marshall brings in a very good salary as the CEO of Pulte. According to Wallmine, his annual salary is $5,771,850. His net worth is estimated at a minimum of $20.4 million. He has done very well for himself in his career with Pulte and has worked very hard to get where he is today.
4. He’s a family man
Ryan Marshall is married. In addition to having a hectic and time consuming career as a top executive at Pulte Group, he also makes time to be a husband and a father. He and his wife are the parents of three sons. Sometimes it’s nice to get an idea of what kind of personal life these top execs have. He knows what it takes to raise a family and the importance of living in a quality home. This gives him additional insight into the importance of the home building industry and for serving the families who purchase their homes to live in and build their lives.
5. He has fun on the job
Ryan Marshall has a job that brings with it a ton of responsibility and pressures. It can be very lonely at the top, but that isn’t his perspective on his position at all. He didn’t come into the position expecting to have a lot of fun, but he shared in an interview that he was surprised at the amount of fun that he is having in his post as CEO. While he’s held highly accountable for keeping the company running smoothly and efficiently and for increasing the profits, he is actually enjoying the job very much. This is likely the reason that he is so successful in his new leadership role. When you love what you’re doing it’s not really work, it’s more of an adventure.
6. Mr. Marshall has been with the PulteGroup since 2003
Ryan first joined the PulteGroup in 2006, where he has served in a variety of different positions and he worked his way up to the top. When he started it was in financial reporting, opportunity analysis and a variety of financial and operating functions. He became the area president of the Southeast PulteGroup in 2012. By 2016, he was promoted to president and the chief executive officer of the company.
7. He was an eagle scout
Ryan Marshall was younger he was involved in the Boy Scouts of America Club. While he was involved with the organization he won an award. He earned the title of Eagle Scout and was honored issuer boy with the club.
8. Mr. Marshall owns a lot of Pulte Stock
In addition to his annual salary, Ryan Marshal also receives a number of stock shares. This is a part of his compensation package. He also owns more than fifteen thousand unites of Pulte stock. The estimated value of his shares is $14,677,691. He hasn’t sold any of the stock that he owns within the past three years.
9. He’s the kind of boss everyone wants
Ryan Marshall has a unique leadership style. We learned that he’s a work in progress and he understands the need to evolve with the job. He’s learned a lot with his years at one single company and is intimate with its inner workings as well as with the staff. He knows when to let go and even though he’s been known to be a hands on leader, he’s found himself letting go more and letting the people he trusts just do their jobs and he’s learning the value of delegating so he doesn’t spread himself in too many directions and that trusting your team is very important for a leader.
10. He became CEO at a young age
Ryan had been with the company for 13 years. When the top leadership position was vacated by his predecessor he was just 41 years of age. This made Mr. Marshall one of the youngest CEOs in the business when he assumed the job. He had everything going for him including the stamina of a man in his early 40s as well as more than a dozen years with the Pulte Group working at different levels of responsibility and working his way up. He was the ideal candidate for the job and although he hasn’t been serving at the helm for long, he’s doing an amazing job.
