The Five Best Robot Vacuums on the Market Today

When robot vacuums were first introduced, they were a novel idea that seemed so futuristic that it took a little while for them to really catch on. They were expensive and most people were content to use what they were familiar with, and that was their traditional vacuum cleaners. Times are changing and the price of robot vacuums has been coming down to affordable levels. With more competition on the market, there are now several brands and styles to choose from. They're ideal for saving time and energy and they do a good job of cleaning. If you're not sure which would be the best choice for your household, we've reviewed the top models available on the market today and here are the best five, most highly recommended.

1. iRobot Roomba 980

The iRobot Roomba 980 is considered to be the best robot vacuum on the market for the money. It's a handy unit that may be one of the more expensive models, but it's worth every cent of its cost. This unit cleans exceptionally well and the user is not required to do anything while it does its job. It is the strongest robot vacuum on the market today and it automatically turns up the power when moving from a flat surface to a thicker pile carpet. When it moves from a higher pile to a lower, it automatically shifts down to conserve on power. It works on most surfaces from thick and tall carpeting to hardwood and tile floors.
One of the greatest benefits of the iRobot Roomba 980 is that it gets stuck far less than most other robot vacuums and it still manages to clean every corner of the room. It comes with a handy app that allows you to set a cleaning schedule and the robot will power up and perform the task. This cleaner does well with hair and other types of debris thanks to the built-in debris extractors.

2. Neato “D7” robot vacuum

The Neato “D7” robot vacuum is a little more expensive than the iRobot and it does require a bit more assistance, but the drawbacks are supplemented with additional features. The Neato D7 comes with an app that can be programmed to cover a complete floor plan. You set the lines where the vacuum should and shouldn't go and it will stay within the parameters that you set. It doesn't require the installation of magnetic strips like some other robot vacuums do, which makes it easier to use. You can also program the Neato D7 to perform spot cleanings in specific areas that get messy more often. It also comes with an option that allows you to control it as you would a radio control car, which adds an element of fun to cleaning. This features a powerful vacuum unit that isn't quite as effective as the irobot, but it does a fair job. In comparison, it tends to get stuck a little more often, but the easy app is what makes it such an excellent value for the cost and it makes up for the other shortcomings.

3. Samsung “POWERbot R7065” robot vacuum

This robot vacuum has been voted as the best unit for deep cleaning. It features a unique design that makes it superior at effectively hitting and cleaning all corners and it does an excellent job of removing the built-up dust that tends to collect there. You can set this vacuum up to clean problem spots and you can even adjust the suction power. This allows you to give the area a once over and conserve power when the house is clean, but may just need a light cleaning. It does a great job of automatically adjusting to different surface types. It generally cleans in straight lines when possible to avoid bumping into furniture.

4. Ecovacs “DEEBOT N79S” robot vacuum

The Deebot is among the lowest priced robot vacuum on the market today, but it's still a good unit. Even though it's budget-priced, it comes with some amazing features that make it an even better value for cost and performance than some of the more expensive units. The app that comes with it offers all the features that you'll find in the competition, but at a lower price. The suction power isn't quite as strong, but it still cleans well. The sensors don't do as good of a job at preventing the unit from getting stuck as much, so this is another potential drawback, but it does a great job, especially for hard surfaces and low carpeting.

5. Shark Ion Robot 720 Vacuum with Easy Scheduling Remote (RV720)

The Shark Ion Robot 720 gets great reviews for being an ideal solution for everyday upkeep. The Smart Sensor navigation keeps the robot vacuum on task so it catches all corners and vacuums every area that it is set to clean. It also comes with hair detangling technology for superior pickup ability thanks to the self-cleaning brushroll that captures long and short hair, dander, dust and allergens to keep your home cleaner and healthier. Debris from edges and corners is pulled in through the dual spinning side brushes. It does a thorough job of navigating, obstacle avoidance and cleaning all set parameters.
