WhatsApp Founder Jan Koum has an Impressive Car Collection

When Jan Koum sold his share of popular app Whatsapp to Facebook for $19B in 2014, he walked away with a cool $7.5B. So, what did he do with his newly gained fortune? He went car shopping, of course. Over the years, his car collection has brought him a lot of joy but due to limited garage space and an insatiable love for cars, the time has come for him to let some of his beauties go. Ten of his highly sought after Porsches are going up for auction in March.

Still, they are not expected to sell for the lowest bid, many of the Porsches in Koum’s collections are the best in the world.

Without further adieu, we present the ten cars in his Porsche curation going up for auction:

1. Porsche 964 Carrera RS 3.8

Not only is this Porsche one of 55 built, but it’s also 1 of 12 with the Speed Yellow color scheme. Widely considered to be the ultimate example of a 964, Koum bought this car brand new in Japan and rarely drove it. With these facts being considered, this car is expected to fetch at least $1 Million.

2. Porsche 964 Carrera RS

Another rarity in the collection is the 1992 Porsche 964 Carrera RS. It’s so rare that less than 2000 were built. Like its sister model, this vehicle was only driven a couple of times, meaning the mileage is relatively low.

3. Porsche 993 Carrera RS 3.8

This particular car was built specifically to quality for GT4 and BPR GT3 racing. It’s a limited distribution vehicle and was never officially sold in the US. Still, there are some that made their way stateside. This example was delivered brand new in Germany, with a Speed Yellow color. This model is one of a handful in the US.

4. Porsche 997 GT3 RS 3.6

This Porsche has less than 12,000 miles on the odometer and is just 1 of 53 North American specification examples with the RS Green color scheme.

5. Porsche 997 GT3 RS 3.8

This car is an excellent example of Porsche greatness. It’s equipped with carbon ceramic brakes and is finished in the original color combination used when it was originally released.

6. Porsche 997 GT3 RS 4.0

This Porsche is 1 of 600 models built and only 158 were created for the North American Market. This particular model is the only one with carbon ceramic brakes, adaptive sports seats, and red and black two-tone seats. As further icing on the cake, it has 150 miles on the odometer.

7. Porsche 997 GT2 RS

Of the 500 models of this car built, only 142 were created for the North American market. To make things even better, Koum’s GT2 RS has a mere 500 miles on the clock. We are expecting this one to go for at least half a million dollars. 

8. Cayman GT4

Next on the auction block is Koum’s super lightweight 2016 Cayman GT4. With its carbon-ceramic brakes, lightweight battery and radio delete, it’s the perfect track toy for those with an insatiable need for speed.

9. Porsche 911 R

This one is so new, it still has the original Monroney sticker in its window. Furthermore, it’s one of 991 examples built. Back when it was new, it was one of the hottest cars on the market. In fact, it’s waiting list was so long it practically rendered its original $136K price tag void.

10. Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach

While all the vehicles in this collection are special on their own, they cannot compare to the Spyder Weissach. When you think about a limited edition, this is the car that comes to mind. Only 162 versions of this particular model were produced. But, Koum’s is even more special – it’s practically brand new. In fact, it has less than 20 miles on the odometer.
