XXXTentacion is an American singer rapper and songwriter, who left a legacy in the music industry following his diverse music style, that brought attention to mental health. Throughout the sprint course of his career, he inspired many, particularly the young at heart. He ended up gaining himself a devoted fan base up to the time of his unfortunate demise. The youngster was born to Jamaican parents Dwayne Ricardo and Cleopatra Eretha, on 23rd January 1998, in Plantation Florida. His birth names Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy were soon replaced, when he debuted into the rap game, with his popular stage name XXXTentacion . He came from a family of 3 siblings and claims to have an Egyptian ancestry.
According to his Wikipedia page the rapper’s love for music sparked when his aunt encouraged him to join the church and school choir. Though expelled for a series of violent physical confrontations, Jahseh learnt how to play the piano and guitar. He had an absent mother in his early life which forced his grandmother Collette Jones to take up the nurturing responsibility. Drawing from his childhood, XXXTentacion never really had proper role models to learn from. His teenage phase was one dented with depression, rage and a series of legal violations. He describes himself as a misfit and admits he went through mental trauma in high school. Later on, the artist channeled such experiences into his lyrics, reeking of personal narratives that millennials could closely relate to.
Following several charge counts, the youngster ended up in Juvenile correction centre. According to The Guardian his ex-girlfriend’s abusive claims (Geneva Ayala) intensified the already hot flame, setting him up for longer detention sentences. He awaited trial for allegedly torturing Ayala while pregnant. His stay in the correction facility linked him up to a long time friend, Stokeley Clevon, with whom they soon began free styling. Not long after their release, the two made plans for home invasions for monetary gain. However, these strategies were shattered when the musician released the single Vice City that spoke of abandoning crime for music.
Several track snippets followed thereafter featuring on Sound Cloud 2013. The song Look at me ushered him into the limelight after it was certified as double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. In 2017 his album launch “17” debuted as number two in the US Billboard. His second album in 2018 also secured the first position on Bill board 200. The rapper’s steady career came to an abrupt end following a robbery gone wrong on June 18 2018. According to his murder surveillance footage the attackers attempted to rob his Louis Vuitton bag and upon resistance, opened fire. XXXTentacion died from multiple gun wounds at the age of 20.
Even in death, the star is remembered for the large foot print he left. He posthumously won an American Music Award, a BET Hip Hop award and received 11 Bill Board Music Award nominations. A week following his demise, his lead single from the album SAD reached no.1 on the charts. Two posthumous albums were released thereafter, both of which were major hits. Although a controversial figure, XXX has permeated the hearts of many with truthful yet inspiring music. Here are some of the top lyrics that devotees continue to live by, some of them applying to the corporate sphere. According to The Everyday Power and Awaken the Greatness within he quotes:
20. “In life you don’t need a lot of friends, just the right ones.
Entrepreneurial matters equally require a significant few to maneuver. This emphasizes on the need to discern just who your friends are and those not. The rest are extra baggage that open you up to possible betrayals.
19. “Being alone really makes you realize all you got is yourself.”
You have all the inbuilt resources to make a global impact. No one can accomplish your dreams for you and sometimes you need to be drawn away from the crowds to re-strategize. You just might realize your true self worth and potential along the way.
18. “I don’t like to speak about my age because people try to use my age to determine my knowledge.”
This is a dose of encouragement to younger successful entrepreneurs who tend to be downsized based on their relatively premature experiences. The embedded message points to the need to end such discrimination. Financial wisdom is not tied down to a particular caliber or age number. Instead it is freely accessible to anyone who diligently pursues after it.
17. “People always leave. Don’t get too attached.”
At some point colleagues, business partners and investors do leave. You are better placed once you allow this reality to settle in. It motivates you to get back on your feet as opposed to drowning in misery. In business you require a sturdy personality that is not afraid to recuperate despite misfortunes. In the same measure you are cautioned aganist over dependency. Lean to brave through the commercial scene independently seeking auxiliary partnerships only when absolutely necessary.
16. “So outside of my misery, I think I’ll find a way of envisioning a better life.”
Never stop at the face of hardships. While you can grieve about painful losses, remember to pull yourself together and hope again. The best inspirations are drawn from a pool of trials and failures. That is why you must jolt back to that business venture. It just might be your only ticket to a good life.
15. “You can’t do good if you’re wishing bad on others.”
Ethical values, character and morals are the backbone to any success. For you to lend a helping hand in whatever capacity business wise, you must have a heart for the same. Lack of it only leads to cruel self centered acts that ultimately interfere with most, if not all your work relationships.
14. “Life is a matter of perception. Everything is a riddle. You can simplify if you diversify your thoughts.”
Relating to industry matters, strive to uphold the appropriate mindset. Think outside the box and you will overcome difficult tasks. Once you perceive right, you are well off on your way to success.
13. “Would I change anything about my journey? No.”
Experiences are meant to be versatile. There is nothing wrong about admiring another person’s success, however, too much of it is poisonous. If you want to remain unique stay true to your own journey and refrain from replications. Write your own story.
12. “We’re all fighting battles no one knows about.”
In an era flooded with flashy Instagram pages that connote luxuriously expensive livelihoods, one would easily get demoralized thinking, “I am the only one who never made it.” There is no truth behind that. People tend to portray only their best and hide daunting struggles. Same applies to the job market, no one will openly admit of the string of losses they had to endure or the business attempt that was an epic fail. Do not be blindsided, keep your head up at all times and forge forward.
11. “I’m sadder than most of you with the money and the freedom.”
It can be argued that money or financial freedom to some extent can buy you happiness. It may not be the answer to everything but it sure does resolve a list of problems. This revolves back the place of hard work diligence and commitment.
10. “Your self respect is what matters. You cannot have a good life or have other people respect you for that matter if you don’t respect yourself.”
Hold yourself in high esteem at all times; it separates you from the masses. Do not trade in your values for money or even a job. The latter can always be achieved but once your image is compromised it leaves behind a lifelong scar.
9. “It is all a process, the longer you wait the longer it will take.”
Until you make an intentional choice to “start now” you are only postponing your success. Learn to step out of your comfort zone by trying something new. Sign that partnership, take an investment loan, draw up bigger projects, network with professionals today! Procrastination is a deadly disease.
8. “Got no choice but to carry on.”
Pat yourself on the back each time you feel like giving up. The responsibilities and work load that come with entrepreneurship is enough to throw anyone off the edge. However, make a choice to push yourself time and gain.
7. Make sure you are being healthy in mind, being caring, compromising for the ones you love, being loyal to the ones you love. If you love someone you’re supposed to be dedicated to them, right.”
A word of advice to bosses, show care and concern to your employees tirelessly. Their well being translates to your business stability because a legacy built on cruelty never lasts. Treat each one as you would love to be treated.
6. “Do not let your depression make you. Do not let your body define your soul; let your soul define your body. Your mind is limitless. You are worth more than you can believe. All you have to do is dream and all you have to do is want to fulfill that dream and have the strength.”
Common to any business journey is the trade mark of disappointments and failures. Even the best have had their fair share. None the less, how you rise from it determines your success story. If you remain chained to the shackles of despair and sadness, then expect the same to manifest into your business reality. Free your mind from negativity and you will rise to the top. Not forgetting the importance to dream, flood yourself with ambitions. You are what you think therefore dream big! Allow that to be the fuel to every target, work plan and investment goal. In the long run you will sit back and reminisce on the far you’ve come!
5. “Follow your dreams, and know that even though you have lost, you have guardian angels watching over you, day in and day out.”
The journey to goal realization does not happen in a day, a month or even a year. It is one thing to write down your ideas and another to achieve them. This does not mean they are unfeasible, no, it only implies the need to keep tracking. Every day ensure to shun disappointments that come to dampen your aspirations. In circumstances where you feel like you lost your bearing, stay put. Learn important lessons because mistakes come with lessons. Equally attribute your voyage to a strong belief system, whatever that may be, you will come out sharper on the other end.
4. “Some people just don’t deserve you. They aren’t ready for your level of loyalty or love. You have to remember that not everyone was raised like you. Not everyone has a pure heart or good intentions like you. And not everyone has your best interest and wants to see you succeed.”
This comes as a wake- up call to every entrepreneur. The market is a competitive place with industrialists willing to go to any extent just to earn an extra coin. Beware. Keep a relatively close circle, solely comprising of mates that have your best interest at heart. Even therein, do not disclose your endorsement deals to anyone as they might stab you in the back. In a world dented with the seed of corruption, struggle for power, superiority complex, you must strive to maintain a secret lifestyle. Confide in a few, seek advice from a few, and relay your failures to a few. That is the only sure way to rise above haters. Lastly, respect yourself enough to walk away from anyone who no longer builds you.
3. “Time is valuable, don’t waste it.”
Plan to use this resource wisely; once it is gone it cannot be recovered. When managed correctly, it will work to your advantage.
2. “I will.”
Self confidence and belief are essentials. The fears you do not face only become your limits, so gas yourself up to greater heights.
1. “Grow your wings, fly away, fly away, fly away.”
There is no limit to what a determined entrepreneur can achieve. Even the sky is no measure for greatness. While on your journey break boundaries and keep going!
