Most women in the United States and in other areas around the world use beauty products from the well-known company Estee Lauder. With that being said, you might be surprised to know who is currently the leader of this dynamic organization. His name is Fabrizio Freda and he is the CEO of Estee Lauder. Below are 10 things you may not know about this man, but rest assured, they are all worth knowing.
1. He's of Italian descent
If you hadn't already guessed his heritage by his name, you now know that he was born in Naples during the 1950s. In fact, he spent his childhood and a good chunk of his youth in virtually the same location.
2. He graduated from University in Naples
Freda graduated from the University of Naples Federico II in 1981. There, he studied business and set his sights on becoming a successful businessman. Clearly, this is a goal that he has achieved many times over. The thing that truly sets him apart from the crowd is that he is never satisfied with his past accomplishments, hence he refuses to rest on his laurels. Instead, he prefers to push forward and continue making unique accomplishments in the business world wherever he goes.
3. He set his sights on American business after college
Freda always knew that he wanted to set the business world on fire, so to speak. As a result, he chose to relocate to America after he graduated from college in Naples. This gave him the opportunity to work for major businesses that had a global impact.
4. He went to work for Procter & Gamble
It didn't take him long to find his niche when he moved to America. Remember, he only graduated from college in 1981. By the following year, he was appointed president of Procter & Gamble Corporation, spending a total of 20 years with the company. A full decade of that time was spent in the company's division of health and beauty, and most recently, he served in the division that deals with snacks.
5. His previous success paved the way for his employment at Estee Lauder
Freda was appointed to the Estee Lauder company in 2008, holding the titles of President and Chief Operating Officer. After spending two decades at Procter & Gamble, the Estee Lauder Corporation was excited to have someone of his skill and knowledge. From that point forward, he moved up the ladder continuously.
6. He was promoted just one year later
A year after he was hired by the company, he succeeded Chief Executive Officer William Lauder. Today, he serves in this role and continues to serve as president of the company.
7. He's a millionaire, many times over
Freda made just over 48 million dollars in his position with the company for 2016 alone. This is a staggering amount of money, but it's only a fraction of the money that the company makes each year around the globe.
8. He's driven
Obviously, Freda is a very driven individual. Otherwise, it wouldn't be possible for him to experience the type of success that he has demonstrated time and again. This is part of the reason that he has been able to advance so rapidly in companies throughout his entire career. He has a vast amount of knowledge and he isn't afraid to utilize his unique vision to put companies on a path to success. In the case of Estee Lauder, he's taking a company that was already successful and allowing it to chart new territory, ensuring that it stays relevant for years to come.
9. He's still involved in education
Understanding the importance of a good education, Freda serves on the board of directors for the McDonough School of Business, which operates out of Georgetown University. He wants to pass on his knowledge so that younger individuals that are just coming into the business world can have a better understanding of success. This benefits not only those individuals, but also the companies they choose to work for.
10. He's an Order of Merit recipient
In 2015, Freda was presented with one of Italy's most prestigious awards, the Order of Merit. This was given to him by Italian president Sergio Mattarella, and is still considered one of his most treasured accomplishments.
