10 Things You Didn’t Know About Jammber CEO Marcus Cobb

Have you heard of the name Marcus Cobb? If you love music or the performing arts, you probably have, especially now that he’s the CEO of Jammber, an innovative company that’s designed to help musicians get paid in a timely fashion. Even if you are familiar with his name, there is probably a lot that you don’t know about him. The truth is, he just might be one of the most interesting individuals you’re likely to run across. Below are ten things you may or may not know about him. Without a doubt, something on this list will surprise you.

1. He’s an experienced entrepreneur

As a matter of fact, this is the third company that Cobb has started all by himself. He sold the first two companies he ever started. One of those companies did so well that he was able to sell it for a rather hefty profit after just one year in business.

2. He moved around a lot as a kid

According to Cobb, he moved almost constantly when he was young. In fact, he claims to have moved more than 20 times during his childhood alone.

3. He knows what it’s like to struggle

Cobb admits that he didn’t have a lot when he was growing up. On top of moving every few months, he had to struggle for virtually everything he had when he was young. That’s largely what made him decide to become so self-sufficient, which in turn, spear-headed his desire to become a successful entrepreneur.

4. He taught himself how to do computer coding

When he was in high school, he found out he had a talent for computer coding. That talent was further nurtured when he got out of high school, as he would figure things out for himself and then make a visit to the local library at a nearby community college in order to try his ideas.

5. He didn’t have a stable home life

You already know that he struggled a lot when he was a kid. Much of that struggle happened because he lacked the stable home life that every kid deserves. According to Cobb, his father was a drug addict. This caused a number of problems for the entire family and made it very difficult when he was growing up.

6. He used to live in Texas

During much of the time that he was struggling as a youth, he was actually living in El Paso, Texas. Eventually, he found a way out of the strife that existed in his life. When he did, he also left the El Paso area.

7. Marcus never attended college.

And would, in fact, tell you that he attended the “school of hard knocks” if you asked.

8. “Coding Prodigy

He went to high school at Cimarron-Memorial. In that time, the Las Vegas Review Journal endorsed him as a “coding prodigy… and one to watch.” This led to recruitment by Microsoft to join their Consulting Services team. Even though he was the youngest person on that team, Marcus served as Team Lead, specializing in innovative healthcare services.

9. Fashion Line

He was the President and Lead Designer for his own fashion line called Marc Wayne Fashions. He styled music videos for popular hip-hop artists, like Baby Bash & Pitbull. He is passionate about sharing the power of technology to transform lives and has volunteered and spoken regularly at a Chicago non-profit called i.c.stars.

10. Acting Dream

Last, but certainly not least by any measure, Marcus frequently fantasizes about acting alongside Denzel Washington. He is also a very famously (un)known songwriter, amateur musician and lover of all things pizza.
