5 Cosmetic Treatments You Can Safely Do During the Summer

Most people want to look their best and show off more skin during summer, thanks to the fair weather. However, the season has its downside; intensive UV rays can cause some skin problems, especially if you have had a recent cosmetic procedure.  So, while you could get plastic surgery or treatments, you must avoid options that increase your skin’s sensitivity to the hot Texan summer. Here are some options that do well in summer.

Microneedling

Microneedling involves using a device fitted with microneedles to puncture the skin’s top layer. These punctures trigger the skin’s injury-healing process, which includes the production of collagen and elastin proteins that give the skin a youthful look.  This procedure addresses several skin concerns, such as scars, uneven skin tone, large pores, wrinkles, fine lines, etc. It is usually a facial treatment but can help solve the same problems in other areas.

“You may need at least three days away from the sun. Additionally, you may also need two weeks of extra-generous sunscreen, after which you will only need normal summer skin care,” says Texas plastic surgeon Matthew H. Steele, MD.

Aquagold

Aquagold is a popular choice for people seeking facial upgrades in summer months because of its skin-boosting effect, a desirable trait considering summer is not the time you want to have lots of make-up. It involves the use of a device with tiny hollow needles that deliver micro doses of botulinum toxins, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and vitamins into the superficial layers of the skin. The result is a plumping and brightening of the skin and an increased ability to maintain moisture.

Clear + Brilliant

Clear + Brilliant involves using laser light to combat early-onset aging signs such as fine lines and wrinkles. It’s important to note that laser treatments are a no-no for summer because they can significantly increase the skin’s sensitivity to light, but this option is an exception.  This exemption is based on the fact that it doesn’t cause much damage to the epidermis, so there is very little, if any, pigmentary effect, which is the main concern for light treatments. You may need a few days away from direct sunlight and two weeks of generous sunscreen application for at least two weeks.

Emsculpt Neo

Liposuction is the traditional way of getting rid of excess fat and achieving the perfect body tone. It’s perfectly safe to get on in summer, but that could disrupt your social calendar as the swelling can take a long time to decrease.  Emsculpt Neo comes in as the best alternative to liposuction. While its results may not be as thorough as liposuction, it’s known to help reduce fat by up to 30 percent in a target area. The procedure involves using high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy to trigger supramaximal muscle contractions that are unachievable through normal exercise.

The end result is burning fat more rapidly and increasing muscle growth. You may need several procedures to achieve the desired results with minimal to no downtime.

Ultra Therapy or Sofwave

If you are looking to tighten your skin but aren’t so comfortable with injections or plastic surgery procedures that involve breaking the skin, you may want to try ultra-therapy or sofwave treatment.  This treatment involves using high-intensity ultrasound energy targeting the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production and, ultimately, skin tightening.  This procedure has no downtime, so you won’t miss out on the fun. However, the outcome may not show until after three to six months, so you may not enjoy the outcome while summer lasts.
