How Amy Adams Achieved a Net Worth of $60 Million

Amy Adams

Amy Adams is an actress and producer best known for her roles in comedy and drama films. The hugely successful actress began her career in 1994, although she did not rise to prominence until 2005. Since then, her career has gone from strength to strength. Now, Amy Adams' net worth is $25 million, and here is how she accrued her wealth.

Amy Adams' Early Life

Adams was born in Vincenza, Italy, on August 20, 1974, to American parents. At the time of her birth, Adams' father was stationed in Italy with the United States Army. Due to her father's military career, Adams, her parents, and her six siblings lived in various locations during her early years, although the family settled in Castle Rock, California, when she was eight years old.

When her father left the army, he began performing in clubs and bars, and Adams would go along with him. It was those experiences that triggered her love of performing. She was in the choir while she was a student at Douglas County High School, and she trained to become a ballerina with the David Taylor Dance Company. However, at the age of 18, Adams realized that she was not talented enough to become a professional ballerina.

Her Early Career

When Adams realized that she would not become a ballerina, she decided that musical theater was a good fit for her and began appearing in various stage productions. She then worked in dinner theater between 1994 and 1998. While still working in dinner theater, Adams also began landing small roles in films. Her first film appearance was in the short black and white film 'The Chromium Hook.'

Adams then landed a small role in 'Drop Dead Gorgeous,' alongside Kirstie Alley, Ellen Barkin, and Kirsten Dunst. During filming, Alley encouraged Adams to put more into pursuing a film career.

Following Alley's advice, Adams moved to Los Angeles. Just a week later, she landed the lead role of Kathryn Merteuil in the Fox television series 'Manchester Prep.'

Three episodes were filmed and released, but the rest of the series was canceled due to controversial scenes. Although the series received negative reviews overall, Adams received praise for her portrayal of the lead character.

In the early 2000s, Amy Adams had supporting roles in various films, including 'Psycho Beach Party,' 'The Slaughter,' 'Serving Sara,' and 'Pumpkin.' Shew also appeared in multiple guest roles in television series. Adams got her first break in 2002 when she played Brenda Strong in the comedy-drama 'Catch Me If you Can.'

Unfortunately, the film did not give her career a boost, and she was unemployed for the following year. The situation worsened when she landed a part in a television series that was canceled before it aired. In 2004, she had a small role in the film 'The Last Run.'

Amy Adams' Career Since 2005

Although she considered quitting acting after a run of bad luck, Amy Adams decided to give it another shot and landed the role of Ashley Johnston in the 2005 independent comedy-drama 'Junebug.' Despite being a low-budget movie, it was well-received, and her performance was praised.

It also led to her getting roles in more films. In 2005, she had roles in 'The Wedding Date,' 'Standing Still,' 'The Ex,' and 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.' Furthermore, she had a recurring role in the comedy series 'The Office,' appearing in three episodes.

Adams' career then diversified when she provided the voices for a character in Disney's 'Underdog' and then starred as Princess Giselle in the Disney film 'Enchanted', both of which were released in 2007. For the latter, Adams was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. Later in the same year, she had a role in 'Wilson's War.'

2008 was an equally successful year for Adams, as she had leading or major roles in 'Sunshine Cleaning,' 'Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day,' and 'Doubt.' A year later, she appeared in 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian' and 'Julia & Julia.' Since 2010, she has had roles in films including 'Leap Year,' 'The Fighter,' 'The muppet,' 'The Master,' 'Arrival,' 'Sharp Objects,' 'Nocturnal Animals,' 'Vice,' and many more.

She is now probably best known for playing Lois Lane in the superhero films set in the DC Extended Universe, and she has been portraying this character since 2013. While mainly focusing on her film career, Amy Adams has continued to appear in various stage productions. One of her most notable stage roles was in the 2012 revival of 'Into the Woods,' and she was involved in this production for more than a month.
