How Andrea Bocelli Achieved a Net Worth of $100 Million

Andrea Bocelli

Andrea Bocelli is an Italian opera tenor and a multi-instrumentalist who began his career in 1982 and is now one of the most famous and successful classical music artists of all time. Although it is his amazing voice for which he is known, there has been a lot of interest in his career as he is blind. The internationally famous singer is now a wealthy man, and there are estimates that his net worth is as high as $100 million. Here is how Andrea Bocelli became so rich and successful in his field.

Bocelli’s Early Life

Andrea Bocelli was born on September 22, 1958, in Lajatico, Italy. His mother gave birth to him against the advice of doctors, who predicted that he would have a disability and recommended abortion. At birth, it was clear he had a visual impairment and was eventually diagnosed at the age of five with congenital glaucoma. He did not lose his sight completely until he was accidentally hit in the face with a football when he was 12. Bocelli grew up on the family farm, which made wine and sold machinery. The farm is still in the family today, despite his father’s death in 2000. It is now a restaurant and winery that also offers accommodation. As a child, it became evident that Bocelli had a natural musical talent. He learned to play instruments, including the drums, guitar, trombone, saxophone, trumpet, and flute. Bocelli also expressed an interest in becoming a tenor and could both recognize the voices of and emulate the great singers of that time. Bocelli sang as a child and performed in local concerts and contests, winning his first big competition when he was 14. Despite his passion for singing, he studied law at the University of Pisa and sang in bars at night to pay his way through the course. He then worked as a court-appointed lawyer for a year before embarking on his singing career.

Andrea Bocelli’s Career

Although Andrea Bocelli began singing professionally in 1982, his career did not really take off until the early 1990s. He auditioned to sing on a demo tape for Zucchero, who was seeking tenors. Zucchero originally chose Pavarotti, but Pavarotti said he should use Bocelli. Zucchero then persuaded them to record a duet together on the tape. In the same year, Bocelli signed with a record label. Two years later, Bocelli gained wider fame when he took part in and won the preliminary competition at the Sanremo Festival in December 1993. Later in the same month, Bocelli made his debut in the classical world at Teatro Romolo Valli. Two months later, he returned to take part in the Sanremo Festival’s main competition, which he won. His win led to him releasing his debut album. Bocelli became known in the late 1990s for his crossover music, which brought classical music into the world of pop and the mainstream charts. He released his first compilation album ‘Romanza’ in 1997, which became one of the best-selling albums of all time. His sixth studio album, ‘Sacred Arias,’ became the best-selling classical album by a solo artist in history. It was also this album that put the Italian tenor in the Guinness Book of World Records. He held the top three positions in the US Classical Albums charts simultaneously.

Throughout his successful music career, Andrea Bocelli has recorded 15 studio albums of pop and classical music. He has also recorded collaborations with other artists, including recording the single ‘The Prayer’ with Celine Dion for the animated movie ‘Quest for Camelot’. In total, the Italian tenor has sold more than 75 million records worldwide. Andrea Bocelli has toured around the world performing classical music in operas, concerts, special events, festivals, and television programs. He has performed alongside some of the most talented people in the classical music world. Bocelli has won multiple awards for his music, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for ‘The Prayer.’ He has also had a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame since 2010, and in 2006, he was made a Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. In 2012, he won the International Artist of the Year Award at the Classic Brit Awards, and he was awarded the Billboard Latin Music Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.

Other Ventures

A lesser-known fact about Andrea Bocelli is that he is an author. He has co-authored numerous books in Italian, five of which are available in English and some of which are also available in Braille. Bocelli has also had an outdoor theater built in his hometown. The tenor singer approached the municipality in 2006 and convinced them to build an outdoor theater called the Teatro del Silenzio. The theater is only open for one night a year in July when Bocelli performs alongside guest artists.

Andrea Bocelli’s Net Worth

Andrea Bocelli’s hugely successful career means that he is a rich man. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Andrea Bocelli’s net worth is $100 million. Bocelli has made most of his money performing as a tenor singer and recording albums. However, he has also made money from television appearances and writing books.

Bocelli’s Personal Life

Andrea Bocelli has been married twice and has three children. His first wife was Enrica Cenzatti, who he met when he was a student signing in bars. The couple married in 1992, and their son, Amos, was born in 1995. They then had a second son, Matteo, in 1997. Unfortunately, the couple separated in 2002, and Bocelli met his second wife, Veronica Berti, in the same year. Although their daughter, Virginia, was born in 2011, Bocelli and Berti did not marry until 2014. The couple and their daughter live in a commune called Forte Dei Marmi in Versilia, and Bocelli’s ex-wife and two sons also live in the same commune in his former marital home.
