Louisville

When you’re in Louisville, Kentucky, you might be wondering where you can find a good place to eat. Fortunately, there is no shortage of good restaurants in the area. If you’re not familiar with the region, consider stopping at one of the 10 restaurants listed below. They are among the best in or around town.

The Fat Lamb Modern Kitchen and Bar

This one definitely has a name that’s designed to get your attention and it does so quite well. The good news is that the restaurant only relies on its name to get people through the door. From there, it’s all about the quality of the food and the extensive menu that’s provided. You can pair your menu choices with cocktails and wine and it’s all done in a modern setting that’s relaxing, yet slightly upscale.

Jack Fry’s

This building has been around since the 1930s and it has ton of history. That’s one of the things at the restaurant prides itself on. They’re also very proud of the food they cook, as they put a tremendous amount of work into creating some specialty menu items. Typically, you can expect to get a lot of Southern items on the menu, but it’s all much more upscale than what you might think when you think of southern food.

Mayan Cafe

This eatery is known for serving a lot of healthy choices and for the most part, it gets its food from local farms so it can go directly from farm to table. It provides a number of healthier Mexican food options and it also has a wide range of fresh juices and cocktails on the menu.

Havana Rumba Middletown

You might have already guessed this from the name of the restaurant itself, but the establishment specializes in Cuban menu choices, as well as a number of unique cocktails. When you eat here, you certainly won’t leave hungry and you can even take advantage of eating on the patio if you prefer to be outside and get some fresh air while you enjoy your meal.

Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse & Raw Bar

If you love barbecue, this is a place you simply have to stop at. The restaurant specializes in making some of the best barbecue in the whole state, possibly in the entire region. They also have oysters and a number of other Southern items on the menu. If you eat here, you certainly will want to come back.

Safier Mediterranean Deli

If you like Mediterranean or Indian food, this is a great place to get your lunch from. It’s always bustling because its reputation as one of the best restaurants in town is well known. They have plenty of vegetarian choices and they even offer free delivery during peak lunch hours.

Vincenzo’s

If you are in the mood for upscale Italian, this is the place to be. It’s a beautiful location and it truly has an atmosphere that is uniquely its own. If you’re looking for a place where you can get dressed up and enjoy a good meal, you would be hard-pressed to find anything better. They have a very large menu and a wine selection that’s even more extensive than the menu itself.

Butchertown Grocery

You might not think this sounds like a restaurant, but it’s actually one of the best and it’s in an historic building to boot. The restaurant serves mostly American cuisine and they have a number of in-house cocktails that they’re more than happy to mix up so you can choose one that suits your own personal style to go with your meal.

English Grill

This restaurant is located at the Brown Hotel and it is responsible for one of the most famous edible creations in the entire southern region, the hot brown sandwich. If you really like Southern food, you would be doing yourself a disservice not to stop here.

Proof on Main

This is a hip little place that offers Southern fare but it almost feels like you’re walking into an art gallery when you step in to eat. Artwork is everywhere. As a matter of fact, the owners have made it a point to create something of an art museum out of the building, and you just happen to be able to order some lunch or dinner while you’re there.
