Success From His Rap Career

Although Birdman began his career in music in 1990, he remained an unknown artist until 1998 when he formed the duo ‘Big Tymers’ with DJ Mannie Fresh. At that time, he was using the stage name Baby. They released their debut album ‘How Ya Luv That?’ the same year. This was followed by ‘I Got That Work’ in 2000 and then ‘Hood Rich’ in 2002.

The singles from their albums failed to reach the Billboard Hot 100. Despite this, the single ‘I Got That Work’ from the album of the same name sold over a million copies in the United States and was certified platinum. Another of their singles that was certified platinum was ‘Still Fly’, which was from the album ‘Hood Rich’. ‘Still Fly’, a single which was featured on ‘Hood Rich’, was nominated for a Grammy Award.

Big Tymers released their final single ‘Big Money Heavyweight’ in 2003. The duo then decided to go their separate ways. It was at this point that Williams decided to change his stage name from Baby to Birdman.

After Big Tymers ended, Birdman collaborated with Lil Wayne on the album ‘Like Father, Like Son’, which was released in 2005. This album was gold certified and included two hit singles, including ‘Leather So Hot’ and ‘Stuntin’ Like My Daddy’.

Birdman’s fourth album ‘5 * Stunna’ was released in 2005. This included singles that featured Lil Wayne and three of them were successful. These were ‘I Run This’, ‘100 Million’, and ‘Pop Bottles’. During their period of collaboration, Lil Wayne and Birdman developed a close relationship and Birdman even refers to the younger artists as his son.

Between 2005 and 2009, Birdman released several more singles. While some of these featured Lil Wayne, he also collaborated with other artists, such as Drake and Jay Sean. In 2009, Birdman released his first single in the UK.

Birdman’s next album was released in 2010 and this was titled ‘Bigga Than Life’. He released a promotional single from the album that featured Tyga and Lil Wayne followed by an official single called ‘Fire Flame’, which also featured Lil Wayne.

In 2014, Birdman began working with two young rappers who had previously collaborated with each other; Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug. Birdman released the single ‘Lifestyle’ featuring these two young artists.

This rapper has earned the majority of his wealth through his work in the music industry, as a hip-hop artist and as a record producer. The majority of the money has come from record sales and from making appearances. However, he has also had other business ventures that have contributed to his wealth.

In a joint venture with his brother Slim, Birdman founded a gas and oil exploration company in 2010 called Bronald Oil and Gas, LLC. In an interview, he claimed he was making very good money from his involvement in this industry.

His other business venture is a clothing line called ‘Respek’ which he launched in 2016. This venture began after he argued with a radio presenter and he told the presenter that he should ‘Respek’ his name. A video of this went viral and, in response, Birdman launched a range of merchandise featuring his catchphrases.

In his personal life, Birdman became engaged to singer and songwriter Toni Braxton in 2018 after they began dating in 2016. The couple had known each other for many years prior to the start of their relationship. Birdman has a son and a daughter from a previous relationship while Braxton has two sons from her first marriage.
