A Closer Look at the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+

446.97kmph was the speed that Bugatti wanted to top since Koenigsegg Agera RS flaunted itself as the fastest car. For a long time, its Chiron models were unsuccessful until it tested one vehicle in Germany, which managed to record a speed of 490.48kmph. The success led to the revelation of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, and most people have wondered what makes it so unique besides the speed. Well, Bugatti always outdoes itself, and this vehicle has a few attributes that you probably do not know, so let's share with you what we know so far.

1. Limited production

Even if Bugatti were to mass produce their vehicles, it is highly likely that most of them would remain in showrooms because of their high price tags. Besides, for a car to be as precise as the customer wants without compromising quality, a lot of time has to be spent on the details. Consequently, most Bugatti models are usually limited. The Bugatti hyper sports cars were meant to be only 500 examples; since they have already produced some models, special editions included, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sports 300+, also was limited to only 30 vehicles.

2. Its price

Affording a Bugatti is a far-fetched dream for most of us, and even if every dream is valid, we have to keep our feet on the ground even as we reach for the stars. Usually, their models go for $3million, and this particular one has not departed much from this price because most sources report it to have a price tag of $3.9 million before taxes. For this reason, by the time you can comfortably call it your own, it is estimated that you will have forked out over $4 million. Although the amount seems steep for the average American, Bugatti has made even pricier models. For instance, the La Voiture Noire has a before-tax price of $12.5 million that shot up to $19 million after taxes.

3. It has diamonds in its speakers

Of course, with Bugatti, you should expect high-end products; therefore, do not be surprised to hear that each of its four tweeters has diamond membranes. However, it is not the first Bugatti to include a diamond membrane in its speakers because, according to the Verge , that is what sets Bugatti Chiron apart. Bugatti sources the speakers from Accuton because the traditional loudspeaker cones get damaged over time; hence even other manufacturers have been using alternatives.

4. Color scheme

For the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, black is elegant because the entire exterior is black except for jet orange stripes running across the center. The interior is also primarily black, and the 30 vehicles to be produced will feature the same color scheme. However, owners are free to tweak it to their preference.

5. Fastest car

Competition is what pushes companies to up their game lest they are beaten by their rivals and end up losing customers. Bugatti is already a renowned brand since it prioritizes luxury for its customers, but it was tempted to prove that it can also offer speed. Therefore after its record was broken in 2017 by Koenigsegg Agera RS that reached 278mph, the brand had to show that it could top that. Consequently, it made the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, which hit 304.773 mph, thus setting a new world record by becoming the first supercar to surpass the 300 mph mark.

6. Speed limiter

When TopGear reported the latest news about Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, it revealed that despite the vehicle reaching a 304 mph, that speed was too high for the ordinary driver. Therefore it said that a speed limiter would be installed, but the limit to which customers would be restricted was not disclosed. Speculations were that the company was in talks with the tire manufacturers and insurance companies to set the limit. In January 2020, reports were that the speed had been limited to 273 mph.

7. Warranty

In 2017, Bugatti recalled 47 vehicles of its Chiron models, 12 of which had been sold in North America, because the seat recliner mechanism was discovered to have faulty welds in the brackets. The owners, however, did not struggle in getting their vehicles; Bugatti sent concierge technicians to each of the 47 owners, and the seat assembly was replaced with a brand new unit. All the same, Bugatti is not one to ruin its reputation with a repeat scenario, therefore, according to Car Buzz, the 30 vehicles to be produced will have 15-year power train warranty and a 15-year bumper to bumper warranty.

8. How they prepared for the test run

Bugatti ensured that nothing could hinder the revelation of the latest model by having Andy Wallace do a test drive. Therefore, the tires that can rotate up to 4,100 times in a minute had to be reinforced and undergo multiple tests and trials. Even before Andy took the wheel, also the tires had to be X-rayed to avoid the smallest inconvenience that could be hidden within them. Further, the driver had to be protected by installing a special safety cell and a six-point seat belt. Finally, the tracks were thoroughly cleaned to remove any grit or stones.

9. The last of its kind

Now that Bugatti has already put its money where its mouth is by producing the fastest car in the world, it has other things to focus on instead of speed. Winkelman said that they had shown the world several times that Bugatti can build the fastest cars, and therefore the business of always topping the speed in future models has been set aside. Instead, they will be concentrating on other attributes of the car. Since they pride themselves in excellent craftsmanship, luxury, and exclusivity, Bugatti will exert efforts to improve these features in future projects.

10. Expected date of delivery

Bugatti is proud of its exclusivity; it is not a brand you can walk into an auto dealership and drive away with one of its models. Its exclusivity comes with some hurdles; therefore, regardless of how anxious you might be to get your hands on this vehicle, you will have to wait until next year. According to Bugatti, the cars will be delivered to the customers in mid-2021.
