How Much Does Hulu Cost?

Streaming services have managed to become more popular than ever. After all, streaming services offer interested individuals incredible convenience, so much so that their traditional counterparts cannot compare on this particular point. With that said, while streaming services are excellent, that doesn’t mean that interested individuals can’t choose the wrong one out of the options that are available to them. As a result, if they are thinking about buying a subscription to a particular streaming service, they might want to look up their prices for the relevant information that they need to make a good decision for themselves. This is something that is as true for Hulu as it is for any of the other streaming services that can be found out there.

What Is the Cost of Hulu?

For starters, Hulu’s pricing structure is rather interesting, though not as simple and straightforward as that of some of its counterparts. In short, there are two basic options, which are called the Hulu Streaming Library and Hulu with Live TV. However, there is one potential add-on for both options as well as two more potential add-ons for Hulu with Live TV. On the whole, while this might be a bit more complicated than some of its counterparts, it is nice because it provides interested individuals with greater control over the exact features that they want and do not want.

First, the Hulu Streaming Library is exactly what it sounds like. In exchange for $7.99 that must be paid once a month, interested individuals can get access to Hulu’s content as well as various other features of interest. Moreover, there will be limited ads, which is not quite as good as no ads whatsoever but still much better than having to see them on a regular basis while enjoying good content.

Second, the Hulu with Live TV option is meant for people with different viewing preferences than those who just want access to the Hulu Streaming Library, seeing as how it is exactly what it sounds like. Unfortunately, this means that this particular option is much more expensive at $39.99 per month. Moreover, it is worse than the Hulu Streaming Library in that it has regular ads, which is perhaps unsurprising considering what it is competing against. However, it does have a couple of upsides in that, one, it gets access to Hulu’s streamable content, and two, it offers 50 hours of cloud DVR as well for people with busy schedules who might not necessarily be able to catch all of the shows that they want to catch.

The first add-on is simply no commercials for Hulu’s streamable content, which can be a good choice for people who are not enthused about seeing even limited ads while streaming shows. Price-wise, it is set at $4 on top of whichever option interested individuals have chosen. However, it is important to note that there are some shows that just can’t be included under the no commercial option because of Hulu’s streaming rights, meaning that interested individuals might end up having to see some ads even if they pay for this particular add-on depending on their exact viewing choices.

As for the other two, they can be useful for some of the people who choose Hulu with Live TV. First, there is an option for 200 hours of cloud DVR, which comes with an option for fast forward as well. Second, there is an option for an unlimited number of screens in the home as well as three additional screens that are on the go, which are a lot more than the two simultaneous screens that come standard. These two add-ons cost $14.99 each. However, if someone wants both of them, there is the option for paying $20 for both of them, thus offering much better value on a per dollar basis.

Final Thoughts

Summed up, this should provide interested individuals with plenty of information about what they can be expected to pay for Hulu. However, if they really want to make an informed decision, they are going to have to look at what Hulu offers as well. After all, different streaming services have different content, which can appeal to very different user bases, meaning that what one person wants might not be the same as what another person wants.
