How Sean Hannity Achieved a Net Worth of $120 Million

Sean Hannity was born in New York on December 30, 1961. He is a talk show host, a political commentator, and an author. He is best-known as the host of the radio show ‘The Hannity Show’ and as the host of ‘Hannity’, a show on Fox News. He works in various fields in the media, entertainment and political industries and has achieved a great level of success in each of these fields. So much so, that it is now believed that he has amassed a net worth of $120 million. Here is how he became such a wealthy man.

It certainly wasn’t his high level of education that has led to this man’s financial success as, like many celebrities, he does not have a degree. Although he attended three universities, he never graduated. This was predominantly because of financial difficulties rather than a lack of academic ability on his part. Instead, he started a house painting business and then later worked for a building contractor.

It wasn’t until 1989 that he became a radio show host and this was only in a voluntary capacity at the college station. Hannity has admitted that he was terrible and was not surprised when the show was canceled after just one year. The reason behind the show’s cancelation was down to offensive comments made by Hannity that caused controversy. This was a decision which Hannity appealed arguing that it was discrimination against his First Amendment rights. Although the radio station reversed the decision, Hannity decided not to return.

With both the failure of graduating from university and the failure of his first radio show, some people would have given up at this point. Hannity did not give up and his determination and motivation are just two of the reasons he now has a net worth of $120 million. He described himself as the most talked about radio presenter in the United States and advertised his own services. He was then hired by the WVNN radio station to present an afternoon talk show.

In 1992, he moved to the WGST radio station in Atlanta but was still relatively unknown at this point. Despite this, Roger Aires, the Fox News co-founder, decided to hire Hannity to co-host a television show with Alan Colmes that was called ‘Hannity & Colmes’. It was the launch of his career in television that helped Hannity to rise to prominence and this led to him expanding his career beyond radio in many ways.

By 2007, Hannity has a Sunday Night television show called ‘Hannity’s America’ which was aired on Fox News. The following year, he announced his departure from ‘Hannity & Colmes’ and it was broadcast for the final time in 2009. The time slot for this series was taken over by his new series ‘Hannity’.

Despite now having a television career, Hannity continues to work in radio and this is his primary source of income. His radio program is a conservative political talk show that began national syndication in 2001. Hannity signed a five-year contract worth $25 million in 2004. In 2008, this was extended to a further five-years in a deal worth an additional $100 million.

Although his radio and television shows are his main focus, Hannity has also written three books and ventured into the film industry. His books are ‘Let Freedom Ring: Winning the War Over Liberalism’, ‘Conservative Victory: Defeating Obama’s Radical Agenda’, and ‘Deliver Us from Evil: Defeating Terrorism, Despotism, and Liberalism. These were published between 2002 and 2010 and they each made the New York Times bestseller list. Hannity has said that he finds it difficult to find the time to write.

His debut in the film industry was the 2017 film ‘Let There Be Light’. Not only did Sean Hannity executive produce this film, he also made an appearance. The film also starred Kevin Sorbo. The writing and film ventures have also contributed to Sean Hannity’s net worth.

In his personal life, Sean Hannity has been married to Jill Rhodes since 1993 and the couple has two children together. The family lives on Long Island in New York. According to Forbes, Hannity has an estimated annual income of $36 million and has accrued a net worth in excess of $120 million. If he continues in his current lines of work, it is likely that his net worth will increase further over the next few years.
