Usher is an American celebrity personality who is known for his contributions to the music industry, but he’s really much more than just a pretty face. Usher was born on October 14th in 1978. His parents are Usher Raymond III and Jonetta Patton. They named him Usher Raymond IV, which is a unique distinction, earning the family name that has been passed on for four generations. Usher was born in Dallas, Texas, but his mother raised him in Chattanooga as his father had left them when he as only one year old. He attended school at North Springs High School and it was his grandmother who first identified his tremendous singing talent.
An early start on his career
Usher’s remarkable talent as a singer led him to make his first self-titled debut album when he was only 15 years old. He signed a contract with LaFace Records and the album made it to the Billboard Top R&B and Hip-Hop Albums with a peak at number 25, then landing at number 167 on the Billboard 200.
This was an amazing feat for a teenager who was still in high school. He didn’t abandon his studies because he was achieving success in the music industry. He continued on and graduated from high school. While still in school, he continued to refine his skills and to work on his next album release.
In 1997, the second album titled “My Way” was released with hits including “Nice and Slow” and “You Make Me Wanna.” When the album debuted it hit the fifteen position of Billboard 200. His third album was released in 2001 and in the first week of its release, it sold 210,000 copies and it hit number four on the US Billboard. His fourth album came out in 2004 and in its sold a whopping 1.1 million copies in the first week of its release. He went on to release “Here I Stand” in 2008, followed by “Raymond v Raymond” in 2010 and each of these albums also achieved success.
Recent album releases
Usher wasn’t finished in 2010. The previous year his music video “Caught Up” was also a hit. Then he released the album “Looking 4 Myself” in 2012. In 2016, he released “Hard II Love” and his most recent album release was “Daddy’s Home” in 2018. All of his recent releases have met with the phenomenal success that the earlier ones achieved. He just cannot seem to release a bad or unpopular album because people love his music.
Awards
Usher Raymond IV is an outstanding singer, but that isn’t all that he’s capable of. In addition, he’s an amazing dancer, songwriter and he’s also a record producer. This is a fun fact about him that many people are not aware of. He pays his success forward by helping new talent to get their start in the music industry.
He’s also a Grammy Award Winner. In 2013, Usher won a Grammy for Best R&B Performance, and he was nominated for the Image Awards Outstanding Song in 2015. Usher is a positive and inspirational guy both in and out of the profession. His philosophy about success lies in the fact that it’s about dedication regardless of where you are in the journey right now.
