Jabil Inc. is one of the largest companies in the Tampa Bay region. It operates in 28 countries throughout the world with 100 plants and over 190,000 employees. The Chief Executive Officer of the company is Mr. Mark T. Mondello. He provides the executive leadership for the global manufacturing services company that has its headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida. 1. He worked his way up to CEO of Jabil
When Mark Mondello first joined Jabil, it wasn’t as their CEO, but instead, as a manufacturing supervisor in 1992. He earned a promotion to Project Manager just a year later. By 1997, he was appointed as Vice President, Business Development. In 1999 he served as the Senior Vice President of Business Development until 2002 when he was made Chief Operating Officer. He was finally promoted to CEO in 2013 and then became the leader of one of the largest companies in the area.
2. He went to college in Florida
Mark Mondello received his education in Florida. He attended the Univesity of South Florida. He studied Mechanical Engineering and he graduated with his Bachelor’s of Science degree from the institution.
3. He’s a native of Chicago
Although Mark went to college in South Florida and eventually became employed there, it isn’t where he comes from. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. This is where he spent his youth.

Before Mark Mondello joined Jabil, he was an employee of Moog, Inc. The company specializes in commercial and defense-related aerospace programs. He held the position of project manager for the company.

He’s paid well for his work but he certainly earns the high salary that he’s paid. 6. He started out tinkering
When Mark was growing up he hadn’t really considered being an engineer, but he did like to tinker. He learned from his father at an early age how to fix things that were broken. This is where he learned the mechanics of how certain things worked. He worked on motors, sprinkler heads, cars, and air conditioners.
7. He wasn’t raised in a wealthy family
Mark’s dad worked as a meat packer. The family didn’t have a lot of money so he didn’t have a privileged upbringing. They lived on Chicago’s south side.
8. He was an athlete
While Mark Mondello was in school, he was interested in intramural sports and for his first few semesters in college, that’s where his main focus was. It wasn’t until he entered his sophomore year that he started thinking about engineering as a career. he was good at mechanics and it was something that he was already familiar with.
9. He decided against a Masters degree
Mark had toyed with the idea of getting a Masters degree. Had he pursued an advanced education it would have been in mechanical engineering. After he thought about it for a while, he made the decision to take a job and that the extra education wasn’t really necessary. It appears that the assessment was correct because he’s achieved a high level of success and built a massive wealth with only a bachelor of science.
