10 Things You Didn't Know about Jason Guss

Who is Jason Guss? The short answer is that he is the CEO of Octane, a lending platform that has been taking the business world by storm. That said, it only makes sense to want to know more about him. After all, it’s important to know more about dynamic business professionals like Guss, both in and out of the world of business. Below are 10 things you may not already know about Jason Guss.

1. He knows a thing or two about high-risk trading

Three years before he started Octane, he had a major role in founding Raven Ridge Financial. The company essentially mastered the art of high-risk trading, specializing in such training to the point that they scarcely involve themselves and anything else. Clearly, these efforts paid off. His time at Raven Ridge definitely taught him some difficult lessons, but it also taught him how to power through those difficult times, find his footing, and keep going.

2. He’s no stranger to the use of technology

One of the things that truly sets him apart is his use of technology, often using it in ways that few others have even thought of doing. For example, he decided to automate his trading system while he was at Raven Ridge Financial. The end result was nothing short of astonishing. In a matter of months, the team had completed more than 340 trades, a number that was astronomically higher than any of their competition. In short, he's an expert at setting up these types of systems and then sitting back while the system does the work.

3. He’s definitely a mover and a shaker

There is no doubt about it, he is definitely not one to sit back and do nothing when there is a problem to be solved. That fact, coupled with the fact that he is always looking for something new to get involved in, makes him one of the most dynamic people in the business world. He is always looking for new opportunities, especially when it involves conducting business through the use of technology in ways that haven't been accomplished in the past.

4. Other business professionals have taken note of him

Obviously, you don't achieve this type of success in business without getting the attention of other business professionals. Even Forbes Magazine has taken note of his activities, listing him as one of their top-performing individuals under 30 years of age.

5. He enjoys creating experiences that are completely different from one another

While he has been involved in business for the majority of his adult life, he doesn't particularly enjoy doing the same thing over and over. That is exactly why he created the automated system while he was at Raven Ridge Financial. It's also why he has dabbled in other areas of business and it's why he ultimately became the CEO of Octane. This is a unique business that is like none other. It essentially combines the world of business and powersports into a single entity. In short, it gives him the chance to pursue all of his passions at the same time while still giving him an opportunity to create something new along the way.

6. He isn’t afraid of failure

Any entrepreneur will tell you that you can't be afraid of failure, and Guss is no different. In fact, he has a thorough understanding that failure is simply part of being an entrepreneur. It is impossible to create new businesses and undertake new adventures without experiencing failure along the way. According to Guss, it's all about the way that you respond to failure. You can either allow it to destroy you, effectively forcing you to give up your dream, or you can let it galvanize you and make you stronger.

7. He’s also not afraid to talk about his failures

While most entrepreneurs are not afraid to fail, the majority of them are reluctant to talk about those failures. Guss is not. In truth, he welcomes the opportunity to talk about those failures because it proves to other people who have similar dreams that it is possible to achieve them, even if it takes several attempts for them to experience any genuine level of success. As such, he rarely talks about the things that haven't gone well as opposed to sugar coating things in an attempt to make it sound like everything has been exactly the way he always wanted it to be.

8. He used to work for Capital One

In between Raven Ridge Financial and Octane, he worked for Capital One. While he was there, he worked in a special department that existed for the sole purpose of solving business problems and communicating more effectively with customers. While it marked the first time that he wasn't working for himself in one capacity or another, he's also quick to point out that he learned valuable lessons about business while working there.

9. His new company operates in a very specialized niche

The majority of the time, Octane operates in the powersports niche, acquiring major print titles associated with such activities. Some people would say that it would be almost impossible to succeed in such a specialized niche. Nevertheless, Guss remained undaunted and continued on with his goals. Today, they have acquired several print titles and are experiencing a massive amount of success.

10. He and his company are taking the powersports world by storm

Because the company is so successful, you might even say that they are taking the powersports world by storm. To date, they have acquired numerous print titles that have been in existence for years. Some of them have existed for decades. Just a couple of the more notable titles include Cycle World and Dirt Bike Magazine. There is no doubt that the company has definitely made a name for itself and it continues to expand within this niche, defying all odds with each passing day.
