RiceGum is a YouTube sensation who has been successful in moving from one pinnacle of success to another in the brief time that he’s been on the scene. Part of the success of his career has been in his talent for delivering content that viewers love. The young YouTuber and Rapper started out as many other young American guys with an interest in gaming and with a few good ideas that panned out, he built a fortune valued at a mind-blowing figure of $8 million, but how did he do it?
Before he was RiceGum
Bryan Quang Le is an American rapper and YouTuber who was born in November of 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada. His mother and father are both Vietnamese immigrants who moved to the United States before Bryan was born. Like many other young American guys, Bryan enjoyed playing “Call of Duty” and he uploaded a few videos that showed him playing the game in 2012. He adopted the screen name RiceGum and created accounts on Twitter and YouTube to share his experiences with the rest of the gaming community.
A fateful decision
Within a year of posting his gaming videos, RiceGum began an official partnership with Machinima. Prior to this, his uploaded YouTube gaming videos had gained a lot of attention and soon after posting, he had a huge following. He was doing well enough on his own, but this was a break that would take his new career to dizzying heights of success. His YouTube followers climbed steadily in numbers and he has achieved a record-breaking 1 billion views on his channel with more than nine million subscribers. His success went wild between 2016 and the end of 2017. He began with just a million subscribers in 2016 and it grew exponentially, almost overnight.
More wise decisions
One of the best moves that RiceGum could have made was to capitalize on the highly emotionally charged gaming sessions he uploaded showing live gameplay. This is something that resonates with gamers all over the world as they “get it” when insane rants break out over the frustrations caused by other players, a lack of skill mastery or a glitch in the game. Viewers easily relate to the content and having them at a hardcore emotional level, RiceGum made the decision to purposely infuse humor into the situation. He began rapping on his videos with a musical appraisal of the kids who were producing videos of gameplay as he had, and he would rant about that. It was a combination of hilarity and honesty in the portrayal of the effects of game play on the human psyche.
He’s been too busy for college
After creating his own YouTube Channel in 2012, he uploaded a series on YouTube in 2015 titled, “These Kids Must Be Stopped.” He went on to receive the number 80 slot on the US Billboard’s Hot 100 in 2017. With all of the success he’s been receiving, he was offered a scholarship to the prestigious Harvard University, but he turned it down last year. The nine million YouTube subscribers that had signed up for his videos has turned into ten million in the current year and it is still climbing upwards. His rap tracks that take a comedic poke at dissing other YouTubers is hilarious and subscribed fans justs keep coming back for more. What began as the upload of a few funny gaming videos has turned into a magnificent rapping career that is industry specific to the gaming community. He’s found the perfect combination to carve out a niche market in which to express his views and his talents.
Rice Gum is an astronomical YouTube phenomenon that has taken the internet by storm. His $8 fortune has come from his amazing success in this venture. Up to this point, he hasn’t needed to seek any outside investments, although he certainly will have that option. It appears that the sky is the limit for the soon to be 22-year-old rapper/YouTuber. If you’re wondering about the so-called American dream, and if it can still come true in the modern age of turmoil, we think that RicGum has shown us all how it’s done, and he’s accomplished it in grand style. Be yourself, pursue the things that you love, apply the work and a little creativity and it could take you to some frightening heights of success.
