1. He has an ivy league education

Thomas attended one of the very best schools in the country. He enrolled in the business program and he earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University. Mr. Gentile continued forward with his education and was accepted into Harvard’s graduate school in business, where he also received his MBA degree. This is a prestigious school that is very difficult to gain acceptance to and only a small percentage of applicants are accepted into its rigorous study programs.

2. This isn’t his first executive leadership role

Mr. Gentile was appointed to the position of CEO and president of Spirit Aerosystems in 2016, but he brings to the position a wealth of previous leadership experience in the upper echelons of the business world. Before joining Spirit, he oversaw the global operations, capital and IT planning a GE Capital. His official position in the corporation was a chief executive officer.

3. He was a leader in healthcare

In addition to working in the aerospace and capital planning industries, Gentile was also involved in the healthcare sector. He held the position of CEO and president of GE’s Healthcare Systems operations. His focus was within the diagnostic imaging division which was valued at $14 billion. He served many roles with the GE company and worked in several countries including Australia, France, and the United States.

4. Gentile started out as a trade analyst

The first official position that Mr. Gentile has listed on his impressive resume was as a trade analyst. He joined the General Motors Motor Trading division in July of 1986 and continued his post there for two years and two months, through August of 1988. During his time with GM he was heavily involved with the commodity trading programs in analysis, negotiation and implementations of the programs which were used in the sale of General Motors products in Eastern Europe, Latin American and Africa, but he was based out of Detroit, Michigan.

5. His annual compensation is in the millions

Mr. Gentile is handsomely rewarded for his hard work and dedication to Spirit Aerosystems. There is nothing that is easy about the rigors of being in charge of leading the company, and full responsibility for its success rests upon his shoulders. Spirit rewards his efforts with a salary that is $1,241,233, with a bonus for his excellent performance of an additional $1,546,576. He also receives stock and other types of compensation which for the 2018 fiscal year amounted to $9.9 million.

6. He believes in giving back

8. He went back to school after his graduate degree

Thomas Gentile III believes strongly in education. He returned to Harvard University where he earned his AB degree in Economics. He not only completed the requirements, but he also graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1990. Prior to this, he enrolled in the London School of Economics and Political Science. His studies were in International Relations from 1984 through 1985 but no degree was listed for this program.

9. He is a family man

Mr. Gentile is married to his wife Julie. Together the couple is the parents of their three children. He is a native of Detroit, Michigan where he was hired on at his first job after college, but he and his family have lived in several different places.
