How Steven Rinella Achieved a Net Worth of $4 Million

Steven Rinella

Perhaps you are familiar with the name Steven Rinella. Even if you're not, you’ve probably run across a book that he's written or maybe even seen him on television a time or two. He has quite a lucrative business, bringing everything about the great outdoors to people in a way that no one else has before. He makes the information he presents useful, even for those who really don't enjoy spending a lot of time outside. Throughout his endeavours, he has gathered a net worth of $4 million. That's a lot of money for doing something that you love, especially when it's something you would probably do for free. If you want to know exactly how he's turned his love of the outdoors into such an incredible money making endeavor, keep reading. You might even be inspired to get serious about one of your own hobbies and see how much money you can make yourself.

Who Is He?

Born in 1974 in Twin Lakes, Michigan, Rinella developed a love of hunting and fishing during his childhood. Throughout the years, he only grew to love these two activities even more. Eventually, he started to spend more and more time outdoors. However, he also had other interests, such as writing. He eventually wanted to find a way to combine all of the things that he loved into a single activity so that he could both make money and spend the majority of his life doing something that he genuinely enjoyed doing. As such, he attended Grand Valley State University and received a BA in English. He then followed that up with a Master's degree in Creative Writing from the University of Montana. This is precisely how he eventually learned to combine his love for the outdoors with perhaps the only thing that he loved as much as hunting and fishing- writing. It was a decision that definitely paid off and one that is still benefiting him to this day.

What Does He Do?

Rinella became a conservationist at an early age, largely because he had been taught to respect the land by his father when they were hunting and fishing during his childhood. Eventually, that led to an even bigger desire to spend the majority of his life outdoors. However, he realized that not everyone had the same type of experiences that he did with hunting and fishing. As such, he desperately wanted to translate his experiences to other people by finding a way to allow those who didn't really enjoy activities like hunting and fishing to identify with those who do. In short, he wanted to find a way to make even those who would far prefer to spend their days inside a climate-controlled environment an opportunity to respect the planet while simultaneously learning a thing or two. As such, he started writing books about his experiences in a way that allowed everyone to identify with what he was doing. It wasn't long before he started getting a few television deals. Today, he spends the overwhelming amount of his time doing exactly what he has always wanted to do, enjoying time spent outdoors hunting and fishing. When he's not doing that, he's usually writing a book about his latest outdoor endeavors or perhaps even spending time in front of the camera so he can reach an even wider target audience. Of course, all of this effort has contributed tremendously to his net worth. In fact, all of those television appearances, coupled with the many books that he has written, has allowed him to live a lifestyle that many people can only dream of.

Books, Television and More

There is no doubt about it, he's passionate about being outdoors. That's something that you can feel when you read his books. Since 2006, he has written six different books about the subject. Three of those books have been variations of similar titles with the term “meat eater'' involved, something that has become very important for his work in front of the camera as well. In fact, he is now the host of a 30-minute long television show of the same name, allowing him to travel to different parts of the world and share his love of hunting and fishing with anyone who has half an hour to sit down and watch the show. He also participated in the 2018 documentary “Stars in the Sky: A Hunting Story” as well as serving as the host for an eight-episode limited series that aired on the Travel Channel called “The Wild Within.” As if writing and doing on-camera work isn't enough to keep him busy, he also has a podcast that he regularly hosts called the “Meateater Podcast.” When he's not doing that, he can frequently be found guest starring on someone else's podcast. As you can see, he likes to stay busy and there doesn't seem to be any shortage of work for him to get involved with. Of course, all of that means more money in his bank account as well.

At the end of the day, he makes his money from a variety of different methods. He gets paid for book sales as well as being paid for every documentary or television series that he participates in. By the same token, he's paid for his time when he guest stars on someone else's podcast and he has his own podcast monetized. While he makes various amounts of income from all of these different sources, it all adds up. When you consider the fact that he's been at it for several years, working diligently to bring his love of hunting and fishing to the public, it's really not that surprising that he's made this much money. If his previous activity is any indication, he could potentially make a lot more before he finally decides to retire. There are still plenty of opportunities for more book deals as well as on-camera work that specializes in this type of subject matter. Between all of the work that he could potentially get in the future and the royalties paid to him for the work he's already done, the sky's the limit when it comes to how much money he could potentially earn.
