According to IMDb, Tina Fey was born as Elizabeth Stamatina Fey in Pennsylvania on May 18, 1970. By the time Fey was in middle school, she already knew that she was interested in pursuing a career in comedy. When she was in high school, she had several opportunities to begin honing her skills as both a comedian and a comedic writer. Not only was she in the drama club, but she was also the co-editor for the school newspaper which involved her anonymously writing a satirical column. Fey then studied acting and playwriting at the University of Virginia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in drama. During her time at university, she was awarded the Pettway Prize. After he left university, she moved to Chicago. In the daytime, she worked as a receptionist and at night, she performed with ‘The Second City’ improvisational comedy troupe.

Her Television Career

After submitting several scripts into ‘Saturday Night Live’, Fey was hired as a writer in 1997. This led to her leaving Chicago and moving to New York. By the following year, she had also been used as an extra on the series, which inspired her to lose 30 pounds after seeing herself on television.
