1. Bronx Zoo Treetop Adventure

This is a fantastic activity for burning off surplus energy and enjoying the outdoors. Families can climb trees, walk rope ladders, swing on ropes and slide down zip lines at this attraction. When you are done enjoying this highly energetic activity, you can stroll around the zoo admiring the vast range of creatures that live there.

2. New York Aquarium

Another great activity for animal lovers is a trip to New York Aquarium. This is a good way to combine fun with education as there is plenty of information on display about the species that live in the aquarium along with lots of hands-on interactive activities to enjoy.

3. McCarren Park

No matter what time of the year you visit New York City, you will find a wide range of activities to enjoy at McCarren Park. During the summer months, visitors have access to a humungous outdoor public pool. In winter, the park is home to an amazing ice skating rink. There are plenty of year-round activities to enjoy too, such as tennis courts, beautiful gardens, open-air movies, and much more.

4. Queens County Farm Museum

This is a museum with a difference as it combines history, education, animals, and food into an encompassing agricultural experience. Activities include animal petting, a tractor pull ride, a corn maze, and a haunted house.

5. LeFrak Roller Rink

In the winter this is a skating rink and in summer, it transforms into a roller skating rink. Roller skating is hilarious fun for all the family. LeFrak Roller Rink is located within Prospect Park, where there is plenty of other activities for you to enjoy.

6. Brooklyn Boulders

For children ages six years and over, Brooklyn Boulders is a fantastic activity. It is an indoor-rock climbing gym with walls and structures of various levels of difficulty to climb. Trained climbing instructors are on hand to offer guidance and ensure the safety equipment is used properly.

7. See a Broadway Show

One of the best options for evening entertainment when in New York City with kids is to see a Broadway Show. There are many theaters in this city that have jam-packed schedules throughout the year. Children are generally enthralled by the excitement of a live performance and one of the many musicals that are staged in the city will appeal to most children.

8. Liberty Science Center

Children are fascinated by the exhibits o display at the Liberty Science Center. The attraction is spread over four floors with a vast array of displays relating to different fields of science. From humpback whales to robots, there is an eclectic mix of exhibits that will capture the imagination of most kids. There is also an IMAX studio within this attraction that has films throughout the day.

9. Spyscape

One of the more unusual attractions in New York City is Spyscape. This attraction invites guests to try out their skills as a spy. Some of the features of Spyscape are lie detector tests and a laser beam room. This is also an educational activity as you and your children can learn about spies of historic significance, such as Alan Turing who cracked the Enigma code. This interactive attraction is located in Times Square.

10. Staten Island Ferry

While you are in New York City, you should really visit Staten Island, too. This location is accessed by a ferry and a boat ride on the Staten Island Ferry is a fun activity in itself. Children usually love riding on a boat and they will have the chance to view the New York cityscape, complete with an excellent view of the Statue of Liberty.
