The 10 Best Restaurants in All of Charleston, SC

It doesn’t matter where you go, having the opportunity to find some delicious food can always make you feel just a little bit more at home then you might otherwise. That’s usually why people start seeking out new favorites every time they go to a new city, not to mention why most people typically walk to a certain type of restaurant. For example, some people just enjoy Mexican food more than they do eating steak, while others prefer Italian or even American cuisine. It all comes down to personal preferences but in the end, you want something that not only tastes good, but also makes you feel like you’re in your comfort zone.

Below are 10 of the best restaurants you’ll ever find in Charleston, South Carolina. There is no doubt that there are plenty of things to do and see in the area, and the same is true when it comes to deciding what to eat. You certainly won’t be disappointed, nor will you have a shortage of options to choose from. If you want to know more about any specific restaurant on this list, all you need to do is click the link above its name and it will take you directly to their website.

FIG

This is one of the more interesting establishments in the area. They serve a great deal of seafood and southern classics, and everything has a seasonal flair. Most of the food they serve is obtained locally and as far as the establishment itself is concerned, it’s a little more upscale than your typical restaurant, giving you the chance to enjoy something that you don’t do every day.

Circa 1886 Restaurant

This is a unique and interesting restaurant in a beautiful setting. They have a habit of serving local food that’s freshly-prepared right there on the spot, so you know that whatever you’re getting is always fresh. For the most part, everything served on the menu is a local favorite so if you’ve never been there before, you’re in for a real treat.

Slightly North of Broad

That’s right, the restaurant is sometimes referred to as SNOB. One thing’s for certain, they have a name that you’re not likely to forget anytime in the near future. Once you’ve eaten there a time or two, you wouldn’t have any trouble remembering it anyway. They specialize in southern cuisine and they do it very well. The atmosphere is great, too, complete with the 18th century warehouse that the restaurant is housed in.

167 Raw

This is probably one of the most comfortable little restaurants that you’re going to find anywhere in the area. They do a great job serving local seafood, even for people that don’t really consider themselves seafood lovers. No matter what you like, you can find something that works at this location.

Lewis Barbecue

If you’re really not in the mood for seafood and you want something different, this might be a good place to go. They serve Texas style barbeque that’s so good it would make you think that you’re right there in the state of Texas and they do it each and every day. They also have plenty of brews, wines and cocktails to serve with it.

McCrady’s Restaurant

If you are in the mood for something that’s a little more casual and you want a wide variety of different food choices on the menu, this is a solid option. In reality, you won’t find a place much better than McCrady’s. It’s also one of the most cozy establishments in the whole state.

Magnolia’s

If you like the idea of eating southern food but you want a slightly more upscale environment with which to enjoy it, this is the perfect place for you. Everything they do is designed to be well thought-out and well planned. They have a wide variety of choices on the menu and plenty of wines that can be paired with virtually anything.

High Cotton Charleston Restaurant

This is a great establishment that makes you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. Virtually everything served there is obtained from local farms and they also have live music that plays several nights a week.

Five Loaves Cafe

Any time you’re in the mood for some lighter dishes like soups, salads or sandwiches, this is definitely the place to go. They have some of the best food of this type in the area and you’re not likely to forget it anytime soon after you’ve eaten there.

The Tattooed Moose

If the name of this one doesn’t get your attention, not much will. The food is just as unique as the name, there’s no question about that. It’s really more of a bar than it is a restaurant, but it serves some of the most delicious food that you’re likely to find at any bar, whether you’re in South Carolina or in any other state.
