These Are the Best Times of Year to Buy Appliances

Larger appliances, such as washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, freezers, refrigerators, and ovens, can play an essential role in your day-to-day life. They can reduce your workload and save you time. In fact, most people now consider such items as a necessity rather than a luxury. When it comes to buying a new larger appliance, it is often a big expense as they are not cheap items to buy. However, there are certain times when they are likely to cost you less and you can save a little money. Here are some of the better times to buy a larger appliance.

Weekdays

It is often harder to find the best deals at the weekends simply because the stores are so busy and you can feel hassled into buying what you need without making comparisons to find a cheaper option. Therefore, try shopping during the week when the stores are quieter as you will find it easier to get a decent deal on your purchase without the hassle of the crowds.

End of the Month

Many retailers of large appliances pay their sales staff commission to sell their products. They usually receive their pay monthly and are keen to get sales in for the end of the month to meet their sales quotas. For this reason, the end of the month is a good time to buy larger appliances as sales staff are more willing to offer discounts to secure a sale to make sure they get plenty of commission in their wages.

Anytime Online

The Internet has created the perfect means of finding out who has the best deals at a given time. If you need your appliance straight away and cannot wait until one of the sale times, then a search online will reveal who has the best prices for the appliance you need at that time.

January

January is often one of the cheapest times to buy anything. While they wait for last years models to make the transition to the latest models, many stores will hang on to their old inventory. When the new year arrives, they need to get rid of all this old stock. To do this, they discount the items that were often already discounted. This means that the prices are significantly lower. The only downside to this is that the items on sale are often limited to models. If you want the latest model of an appliance, you may have to pay full price or wait for another sale period.

May

While many large appliances bring out their new models in September and October, refrigerator manufacturers tend to bring out their new models in early summer. For this reason, they are often discounted in May to clear old stock and make way for the new summer models. Therefore, if it is a refrigerator you need, then May is one of the best times to make this purchase. These discounts do not necessarily take place in every store, so check before traveling to a retailer to buy your new refrigerator.

September and October

In most cases, manufacturers of larger appliances bring out new models around September and October. This means that many stores will discount the older models around this time. They need to clear their stock, so they have space for the newer models and also need to focus more on achieving sales of the new and more expensive products that are arriving. The longer the items have been in stock, the greater the discounts often are as the retailer is keen to sell these items. Therefore, if you can wait until September or October to buy your new appliance, it makes sense to do so. Again, it is still best to check in advance which stores have the biggest discounts before you decide which retailers to visit and which product to buy.

Holiday Weekends

Most major retailers have sales that tie-in with the holiday weekends. On almost all the holiday weekends, you are likely to find sales. However, there is a word of warning. Just because an item is on sale it does not necessarily mean that it is the best price. Therefore, you should still shop around to compare the different offers.
