His early years

Big Boi is the stage name for Antwan Andre Patton. He and his partner Andre 3000, aka Andre Lauren Benjamin got together and formed the duo known as Outkast. Prior to this, Big Boi attended the Tri-Cities High School which was a magnet school of visual and performing arts and this is where the pair met. Their music was well received and they were noticed by a record label called LaFace Records, and were picked up by the label. It was during this phase of his career that he became well-known and the group produced several studio albums with big hits titled "The Way You Move," and "Hey Ya!" according to a report by The Sun.

Big Boi goes solo

In 2007, both of the members of Outkast decided that it was time for them to pursue solo careers, and they disbanded the group. While on his own, the Savannah, Georgia native released two solo albums which were also successful. His solo album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty was released in 2010 and he received high praise and the sales were also high. This was followed by a studio album titled Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors in 2012. He also worked with some notable artists on their tracks including Jay Z, Trick Daddy, Missy Elliot, Brooke Valentine, Killer Mike, Fantasia, Sleepy Brown and Beyonce.

He's an award winning artist

Big Boi won several awards while with the group Outkast. The du won a 2001 BET Award and again in 2004, won a Billboard music Award for duo of the year. In the same year American Music Award granted them a favorite album award and they went on to win many others including NAACP Image Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and a few Grammy Awards. Big Boi has received his share of recognition from prestigious Awards organizations and he also has a massive fan base supporting his tours and album sales.

He followed his heart

During a time when there were several artists refusing to participate in the lineup for the 2019 Superbowl halftime performance, Big Boi joined Travis Scott, fellow rapper along with Maroon 5 in a controversial decision that left some fans disappointed. This was because of the perceived lack of support for people of color that the NFL was in the hot seat for. He's not afraid to make unpopular decisions whether fans agree with it or not, but he's true to his own conscience regardless of the opinions of others.

What are his income sources?

Big Boi has no doubt made his millions from his rapping career, tours and album sales, both as a member of Outkast and through his continuing career as a solo artist. But this is not the only source of his tremendous wealth. In addition, he has also established a career as an actor. He's appeared in "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Superfly," "The Quad," and he's appeared in "Girlfriends." He's also been involved in the film industry, making his debut as an actor in "20 Funerals" in 2004, and in "Idlewind" in 2006, with roles in both film and television. Other sources of income for Big Boi include his professional work as a writer, composer and producer.

His personal life

Big Boi is married to his wife of 17 years, Sherlita Patton. Between the two of them, they are raising three children together, a daughter and two sons. The couple experienced some troubled times in 2013, and Sherlita even filed for divorce, but they reconciled and found a way to make it work. They are still together today.

He's still relevant today

Big Boi is still a hot commodity on the rap and hip hop scene. He and Andre 3000 also got together for a performance in 2014 at the Coachella Valley music and Arts Festival, which kicked off a volley of performances after so many years of being solo artists. This was a tremendous boost for both men in their careers as fans of Outkast were thrilled that they were performing together again. Big Boi is a performer who is still in high demand and when his name appears in the lineup, it can pack out the house.

To answer the question about how Big Boi has come to be so rich, it was a combination of professional endeavors. He certainly owes much of his wealth, probably the majority of it to his time with Outkast, then with his solo albums. Although the precise figures have not been disclosed, he does very well with album sales which are still fairly decent. Every time he performs on stage, he's raking in more cash and he also earns money through the songs that he composes as a writer and composer. Big Boi is also a savvy producer and he's had a lot of success in the creation of albums that achieve high numbers of sales. Producing is a form of investment and when you're as popular as Big Boi, this can translate into millions in returns on investment very quickly. He's also earned some as an actor, but we believe that the bulk of his fortune has been earned through his rap/hip hop music career.
