How Much Does it Cost to Attend a New York Mets Game?

If you're a New York Mets fan, but want to get in on the live excitement of seeing the game in person, you can get in to watch them play at Citi Field for a reasonable price. Tickets are available in a broad price range. Be prepared to spend more for the better seats, but if you're on a budget, no worries, you can still afford to go root for your team in person. We've broken down the expenses involved in going to a Mets game to give you an idea of the total cost to help you plan out your excursion. We've included parking, concessions and ticket amounts that attendees spend on average.

Ticket prices are fairly reasonable

The ticket prices for 2018 to see the Mets play at Citi Field start at $15 if you go with a seat in the Promenade area. The most expensive tickets are around $412 each if you reserve seats in the Metropolitan Platinum section. Most people who want to have a decent view of the game without breaking the bank go with the less expensive tickets that average around $61, but if money is tight, and you reserve your tickets early, you can probably get in for between $15 and $19 per ticket.

Parking won't set you back much

Some people take the bus or a shuttle to the game, but if you're driving your own vehicle to the game, there are a few different options. You could park away from the field on game day at a private parking area. The fees range widely for these because they're offered by private individuals or organizations and these individuals determine the rate. If you choose this option, then plan to pay anywhere from $12 to $25, but you're going to be in for a walk. The best option, in our opinion, is to park at Citi Field, and we have a couple of good reasons for this. When you park at the Field, your vehicle is left in a more secure place. The fees are very reasonable for the piece of mind that it gives you and it's a lot closer to the game. You could save the time and effort that it takes to walk for several blocks both to and from the game. The cost of parking at Citi Field is $25. If you arrive several hours early, you qualify for a $5 commuter discount. Even without the discount, it's not a very high fee.

Concessions aren't that bad

Citi Field is brimming with some of the best stadium/park food in the country. You'll be thrilled at the selection of smoked/barbecued foods and other cuisines with of course the traditional ballpark offerings. The cost of a hot dog will set you back $6.25 each. You can spend as much as $15 for some of the other food offerings at the field. The price to order a cup of beer ranges from $8.75 to $9.50 unless you want to order that beer in a souvenir cup. In this case, the cost is $12 each. If you have special dietary needs or you want to bring your own food and beverages into the field, you can also do this, but there are some strict rules that you must follow. All food must be wrapped and you can only bring water or other non-alcoholic beverages in plastic containers up to 20 ounces. These should be carried in a soft container. Absolutely no glass bottles, containers or aluminum cans are allowed. All food containers are subject to inspection by Citi Field staff.

How much does it cost on average to attend a New York Mets game?

The average cost of attending a New York Mets game is $61 per ticket,$25 for parking, around $12.50 for a couple of hot dogs, and if you're a beer drinker, you'll spend $18 for 2 beers. This comes to a grand total of $116.50. Of course it may cost more if you prefer premium seating, more food or more beer. If you're extremely budget conscious, you could buy the less expensive tickets, ride with a buddy and bring your own food and water and get by for around $19. This makes it possible for almost anyone to be able to afford to catch a Mets game at Citi-Field without breaking the bank.
