The Miami Dolphins were founded by attorney-politician Joe Robbie and actor-comedian Danny Thomas as they began play in the AFL in 1966, and merged into the NFL in 1970 as part of the AFL-NFL merge. Fun fact: out of the contest that was drawn up to choose out the franchise’s name, 600 of the nearly 20,000 entries to the contest voted for the name “Dolphins”, and team owner Joe Robbie liked the name because Dolphins are known to be very fast creatures in the sea and also one of the smartest creatures in the sea. As of 2021, the Dolphins have won the AFC East division a total of 13 different times, and they have 2 Super Bowl championships won as they won in 1973 against the Washington Commanders, and they won the very next year in 1974 against the Minnesota Vikings. The history of the franchise is littered with legendary players such as Dan Marino, Jason Taylor, Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Larry Little, and countless others. Because of their impact on the game can be measured in numerous ways such as revenue, endorsements, and memorabilia. 5. Larry Little Signed Jersey – $50

Larry Little started his career as a free agent who wasn’t picked in the NFL Draft, he was picked up by the San Diego Chargers in free agency, and then was traded to the Dolphins. Little was immediately able to make an impact on the Dolphins rushing game, as he made the Pro Bowl game in his very first season with Miami. Little played right guard for majority of his NFL career, and he was an exemplary pass blocker, using his athletic ability to help anchor the line. In his career, Little earned 5 Pro Bowl selections, and he earned 5 straight All-Pro selections. His jersey was sold as part of the Heritage Auctions as part of the 2017 November 5th Sunday Internet Sports Collectibles Auction, as the jersey was sold for $50.

4. 2007 Jason Taylor Game Worn and Unwashed Jersey – $776

Jason Taylor is considered to be the greatest defensive player to have ever put on a Miami Dolphins uniform, and is considered to be one of the greatest defensive player’s that the league has ever seen. In Taylor’s time with Miami, he recorded 131 sacks, 43 forced fumbles, 27 fumble recoveries, 8 interceptions, and 9 defensive touchdowns. Taylor helped lead some of the greatest defenses in the franchise’s history and he is 7th all time in sacks in NFL history, and he has the most touchdowns in NFL history for a defensive linemen. Taylor also holds the record for the most fumbles returned for touchdowns with a total of 6. Taylor was known for having incredible strength and athleticism as he was a very fast player. His jersey was sold as part of the Heritage Auctions, as the jersey was sold as part of the Sports Catalog Auction, as the jersey was sold for $776 and was sold on November 7th, 2014.

3. 1993 Dan Marino Game Worn and Signed Jersey – $2,160

Dan “The Man” Marino is considered to be the greatest Dolphins player in the history of the franchise. Marino took over the starting role at quarterback for the Dolphins in just week 6 of his rookie season, and he would go on to lead the Dolphins to a 12-4 record that season. In his sophomore season in the league, Marino had greatest season of his career, as he threw for 5,084 yards and 48 touchdowns, as both of those were NFL records during that time period. Marino’s passing dominance was absolutely unfathomable, as he passed for 3,000 yards or more in a season 13 different times throughout his career, which includes the 6 seasons he reached the 4,000 yard mark. Marino led the league in touchdowns 3 times, yardage 5 times, pass attempts 5 times, and completions 6 times. His jersey was sold as part of there Heritage Auctions as part of the Fall Sports Memorabilia Catalog Auction, as the jersey was sold for $2,160 and was sold on October 18th, 2018.

2. 1973-74 Larry Csonka Game Worn Jersey – $5,078

Larry Csonka was known for his ability to bruise defenders with his bulldozing style of running of not being afraid of what was in his pathway led the Dolphins to be the best rushing team in the league in 1971 and 1972. Csonka is the Dolphins all-time rushing yardage leader with a total of 6,737 yards and is the all-time leader in rushing touchdowns with a total of 53. The greatest game of his career came in Super Bowl VIII, as he was able to carry the ball a total of 33 different times, he scored 2 touchdowns in the game, and had the record for most yards in a Super Bowl game with 145 yards, but that record has been broken. His jersey was sold as part of the Heritage Auctions as part of the Sports Catalog Auction, as the jersey was sold for $5,078 and the jersey was sold on November 7th, 2014.

1. 1978-80 Bob Griese Game Worn Jersey – $7,767

Even though the first three season’s of Bob Griese career weren’t great, as soon as Miami hired a new head coach who was Don Shula at the time and a new decade was upon everyone, things for Bob Griese started to go his way. In the first season with Shula as head coach, Griese was named to his first Pro Bowl, as he lead the Dolphins to a 10-4 record. To this day, Griese is one of the most decorated players in the history of the Miami Dolphins, as he won 2 Super Bowl titles, he was named to 8 Pro Bowls, he was a 2-time All-Pro, and he was awarded with the 1977 Bert Bell award. Griese wasn’t known to be a flashy quarterback, he played a simple game and was able to very efficient and get the job done when the running game was stopped by the opposing teams defense. His jersey was sold as part of the Heritage Auctions as part of the Sports Catalog Auction, as the jersey was sold for $7,767 and the jersey was sold on November 7th, 2014.
