While some of these have been fortunate enough to inherit their wealth, there are others who have achieved a high personal net worth through their professional success in a variety of fields. These people have a level of wealth that most people can only dream about and their financial circumstances mean that they can live life to the full without the stresses of financial difficulties. Here are the ten richest people in the UK, according to The Times Rich List.

Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken and Michel de Carvalho- $12. 55 Billion

While Charlene de Carvalho- Heineken inherited the Heineken Brewing company from her father, her husband, Michel de Carvalho, is a successful investment banker. Their main source of income is Heineken International as this is the second-largest brewing company in the world. Although Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken is from the Netherlands, her husband is British and they now reside in London with their children.

The Duke of Westminster- $12.6 Billion

The Duke of Westminster and the Grosvenor family head the Grosvenor Group, which is a property investment company. Hugh Grosvenor is the 74th Duke of Westminster. He gained this title following the death of his father, Gerald, in August 2016.

Kirsten and Jorn Rausing- $13 Billion

Although some of their fortune comes from inheritance, their main source of income is Tetra Laval. This is the parent company of the food packaging giant, Tetra Pak. Kirsten and Jorn are brother and sister. They were born in Sweden but live in the UK. Kirsten is also a non-executive director of British Bloodstock Agency. This is a company that buys and sells racehorses for wealthy clients. Her brother, Jorn, invested around £26.5 million in Ocado, the online retailer.

The Weston Family- $14 Billion

Galen Weston and his wife Hilary are the head of the Weston family, who are the seventh richest people in the UK. They are the owners of Wittington investments which is the controlling company of Associated British Foods and Fortnum & Mason. They also own the retail giant Primark.

Ernesto and Kirsty Bertarelli- $15.5 Billion

Ernesto and Kirsty Bertarelli are an Italian couple who live in the UK and own the Swiss pharmaceuticals company, Santhera. Kirsty Barterelli's family also control the Churchill China Company. Due to her combined wealth with her husband, Kirsty Bertarelli is the richest woman in the United Kingdom.

Alisher Usmanov- $15.8 Billion

Alisher Usmanov was born in Uzbekistan but now lives. His main source of income is the Russian mining company Metalloinvest. His other investments include shares in Spotify and Airbnb, and a 30% stake in Arsenal Football Club.

Lakshmi Mittal- $17.8 Billion

Lakshmi Mittal is a businessman who originates from India but is now a resident of the UK. He is the CEO of ArcelorMittal, which is the world’s largest steelmaking company. His other investments include a share in Queens Park Rangers. His son-in-law, Amit Bhatia, is the vice-chairman of this football club.

David and Simon Reuben- $18.9 Billion

David and Simon Reuben are brothers who have a joint net worth of $18.9 billion. They are property investors who also own Belmond, which was formerly Orient-Express Hotels. The brothers first began investing in prime London properties in 2000 and bought a car park in Mayfair for £70 million in 2015. They also own Arena Racing, London Heliport, and London Oxford airport.

Len Blavatnik- $21.5 Billion

Len Blavatnik is a Ukrainian who is now a British citizen. He is the owner of Access Industries, which is an investment group that owns Warner Music Group. He also invests in real estate, chemical industries, and natural resources. Each year, he hosts a Grammy party at Milk Studios in Los Angeles and invites many high-profile celebrities.

Sri and Gopi Hinduja- $21.9 Billion

The main source of this couple’s income is the Hinduja Group. This company has investments in media, healthcare, oil, gas, media, banking, and IT. Their biggest project is the conversion of the Old War office into a five-star hotel that comes complete with a ballroom for 600 people and an 82-foot swimming pool. The Old War Office is where military efforts were led by Winston Churchill during World War II. This couple is originally from India but are residents of the United Kingdom.
