10 Things You Didn't Know about the Nike KD-10

The Nike KD 10 is the latest in a line of Nike shoes for Kevin Durant. It is interesting in that it is very much a reflection of Durant's personality, meaning that it is rather colorful in nature to say the least. Combined with the colorways that are coming out, this is bound to make it a subject of interest for a fair number of people out there. Here are 10 things that you may or may not have known about the Nike KD 10:

1. Belongs to Kevin Durant

The KD in Nike KD 10 stands for Kevin Durant. It is an excellent example of Nike's practice of creating signature shoes for exceptional athletes who possess the star power to make such contracts worthwhile. Something that started up decades and decades ago but promises to continue far into the future.

2. Connected to a Dispute Between Durant and His Teammate

It is amusing to note that the Nike KD 10 was connected to a dispute between Durant and one of his teammates Stephen Curry. In short, what happened was that Durant talked up Nike shoes while singling out Under Armour for disparagement. Since Curry is notable for championing Under Armour, he disagreed with Durant's assessment of the situation.

3. Curry's Reaction Was Relatively Mild

With that said, Curry's reaction wasn't particularly aggressive. Instead of flaring up, he had a conversation with Durant. After which, the two were good with one another once again, which says a lot about the cohesion of the Golden State Warriors.

4. Included in the Art of a Champion Releases

The Nike KD 10 was one of the Art of a Champion releases, which were meant to celebrate some of the most memorable moments in NBA Playoffs. In the case of the Nike KD-10, it received a special gold-dipped edition, which was meant to pay respect to Durant's MVP status in the NBA Finals.

5. One Pair Was Gifted

Speaking of which, one pair of those special shoes was gifted to a very lucky fan at the celebration parade for the Golden State Warriors. This is because said shoes came in a special suitcase stuffed with other mementos, thus making something exceptional that much more so for interested individuals.

6. Insoles Feature a List of Insults

The insoles of the Nike KD 10 are very noticeable. After all, they boast a full list of the insults that have been directed towards Durant, with examples ranging from "arrogant" and "lame" to longer phrases such as "doesn't care about fans." With that said, those insults aren't exactly there on the insoles because of an uncharacteristic bout of self-flagellation.

7. Insults Written Over with Achievements

After all, the insults are written over with various words and numbers representing Durant's achievements as a NBA player. Moreover, those words and numbers are in a bright yellow, which makes them that much better at standing out compared to the black script of the insults as well as the blue background of the insoles.

8. The Symbolism Is Hard to Miss

Summed up, the symbolism of the Nike KD 10 isn't exactly subtle. Simply put, Durant is literally stepping on the more negative sentiments directed towards him. This is a pretty boastful statement to say the least, but considering that Durant is a NBA Finals MVP, it is no exaggeration to say that he has the accomplishments to back it up.

9. Has a Special Aunt Pearl Edition

One of the special editions that have been released for the Nike KD 10 is called the "Aunt Pearl" edition. This is a reference to Durant's late Aunt Pearl, who had a huge impact on him because she encouraged him to follow his dreams when he was still growing up. That kind of positivity tends to have a powerful effect on people, so it is no wonder that Durant remains so very fond of her in spite of the time that has passed since then.

10. More Colorways Are Still Being Released

There are more colorways that are still being released for the Nike KD 10. Due to this, if people aren't particularly interested in the colorways that are available for the shoe at the moment, they might want to keep a watchful eye out for new releases that might be better-suited for their personal preferences.
