Gibson’s third album, ‘I Wanna Go There,’ was released in 2002. He did not release his fourth album, ‘Alter Ego,’ until 2006. After taking a break to concentrate on his acting career, Tyrese Gibson released his fifth album, ‘Open Invitation,’ in 2011. Next, Gibson began collaborating with the artists Ginuwine and Tank under the name TGT. The trio released the album ‘Black Rose’ in 2014. Gibson made his film debut with a small part in the 2000 film ‘Love Song,’ followed by another small part a year later in ‘Baby Boy.’ However, it was landing the part of Roman Pearce in the 2003 film ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’ that raised Gibson’s profile as an actor. It was the first of five films from the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise in which Gibson has starred. The most recent is ‘F9’, which is set for release in 2021.

Another recurring film role for which Tyrese Gibson is known is playing is Robert Epps in the ‘Transformers’ series of films. The actor first played the role in the 2007 film ‘Transformers’ and reprised the role for the 2009 film ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ and ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ in 2011. The intention was for Gibson to resume the role in the 2017 film ‘Transformers: The Last Knight.’ However, there was a scheduling conflict with ‘The Fate of the Furious,’ so Gibson was unable to resume the role. Other films in which Gibson had roles in the 200s included ‘Flight of the Phoenix,’ ‘Four Brothers,’ ‘Annapolis,’ ‘Waist Deep,’ ‘The Take,’ and Death Race.’ Up to 2020, his films have included ‘Legion,’ ‘Eldorado,’ ‘Black Nativity,’ ‘Hollywood Adventures,’ ‘Ride Along 2,’ ‘Black and Blue,’ and ‘The Christmas Chronicles 2.’ Gibson also has some upcoming films. Both ‘Rogue Hostage’ and ‘Morbus’ are in post-production, while he is currently filming ‘Dangerous,’ which does not yet have an official release date.

Other Ventures

In addition to his music and acting careers, Tyrese Gibson has also become a writer. His first venture as a writer was co-creating a three-issue comic book in 2009 called ‘Tyrese Gibson’s MAYHEM!’ Gibson said that he was inspired by a visit to Comic-Con. Gibson’s second venture as a writer was releasing the book ‘How to Get Out of Your Own Way’ in 2012. A year later, he co-authored the book ‘Secrets of Your Man’s Mind Revealed’ with his friend Rev. Run. Both books were on the New York Times bestseller list.
