What is It Like to Fly Delta First Class?

First Class is a designation that eludes many travelers. Flying costs money after all, and generally, the more money you pay for seats, the better they are. Delta is one of the world’s largest airlines, and they boast some of the best First Class options in the industry.

When you’re flying First Class on Delta, you’ll have a dedicated flight attendant servicing anywhere from just 10 to a little over 20 seats on a plane.

The most First Class seats on a Delta aircraft is on the 767-300, which has a total of 30. Either way, it’s a stark difference versus having to deal with a couple hundred. You can guarantee that the First Class attendant will make sure all your needs are met in a timely manner.

Food

Delta offers different food options depending on your flight. However, all First Class flyers—no matter how far the destination may be—will always get a pre-flight drink and a hearty snack, which you can ask for whenever you’re ready to have them.

You’ll also get meal options included with your flight depending on where and when you’re flying. You could have breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a combination of any two. Just know that all First Class meals are marginally better than Coach meals.

Productivity

Many airlines today are equipped with USB outlets that will allow you to charge your devices. In First Class, Delta provides you with more ways to connect and and stay powered throughout your flight. You’ll also have access to 110-volt outlets to charge other devices such as laptops. You can either work or leisurely browse the Internet while you’re on a long haul flight.

The connection and power options are particularly useful when you’d like to watch your favorite show, a movie or two, or simply Netflix your way through the entire flight.

Amenities

Extra items are always a plus. A soft pillow will do wonders even on shorter flights. Blankets are your best options for staying warm while you’re tens of thousands of feet high in the air. You really never know what you need until you actually need it. And when you’re stuck in one place for so many hours with no outlets, having access to some necessary amenities is valuable.

Flying First Class will give you access to many things that you could use, especially on longer flights. Don’t worry about leaving your headphones in your luggage; you’ll get complimentary Billboard headphones on most of Delta’s First Class flights.

Cost

Average distance Delta First Class flights will definitely cost you at least $1,000. Depending on where you’re going and where you’re coming from, that could easily go way beyond that price point. If you’re flying for over 12 hours to get somewhere, expect to pay a good amount of money to get all the First Class benefits.

That being said, the difference between Coach and First Class has gotten dramatically smaller over the years. If you were to buy a Delta Coach ticket today, it might only cost you roughly $500 to upgrade to First Class.

That’s not a bad deal, especially if you’re going to be on a flight longer than you’d prefer. Flying First Class shouldn’t be an enigma. It’s an experience that everyone should get to have even once, and Delta is just one of the best airlines to have that experience with.
