The 80’s hip hop music still moves heads today, and it was so popular back then that it was some sort of a movement. Consequently, it comes as no surprise that some hip hop lovers were willing to spend $13,000 on a simple DMC concert t-shirt.

This t-shirt was designed to promote the DMC concert. It was made in collaboration with Adidas, which to date is a popular among sneaker and sports shoes enthusiasts around the world. The t-shirt is white in color, and it bears the words RUN DMC Adidas at the front, with the company’s logo at the end. The back also bears Adidas’ logo.

It is also made for comfort as it is made of pure cotton. The neck line is round, and the short sleeves provide sufficient ventilation for added comfort. And, although it is rare and may seem simple nowadays, this t-shirt was a hit back in the 80’s, and it still maintains its position among the most expensive t-shirts. However, many hip hop enthusiasts with money to splash would undoubtedly not mind to spend several thousand dollars to don one of these t-shirts.

John Lennon’s ‘Home’ t-shirt - $16,400

This t-shirt was the face of the famous restaurant ‘Home’ as well as its owner, John Lenno. He wore it everywhere he went, and it’s simple yet elegant design quickly made it just as popular as him and his restaurant. This t-shirt was designed as a gift for John Lenno when he was naming and starting his restaurant; to this end, it bears the name of his restaurant at the front with an added touch of an arm with a clenched fist in the center of the ‘O’. Besides that, the rest of the t-shirt is all black.

Expectedly, John Lenno wore the t-shirt to a majority of the shows that he attended to promote his restaurant. At some point, the shows’ followers fell in love with the t-shirt and also sought to purchase it. In fact, the t-shirt’s publicity was so vast that its price stood at $16,400. This, however, did not deter many from purchasing one; besides, it is as beautiful as it is comfortable since it is made of pure cotton. Today, John Lenno and his restaurant are no longer on the media limelight, but this t-shirt is still popular with some of his diehard fans.

There is more to this t-shirt’s price tag than just the looks and quality material. In fact, it is worth its hefty price as the money went to a good course. This is because this 1996 Olympics t-shirt was made by UNICEF to raise funds for helping poor children around the world.

Taking advantage of the Olympics’ popularity with people around the world, UNICEF decided to design a simple and plain t-shirt to raise awareness on the plight of poor children in third-world countries as well as raise money to alleviate the poverty. Besides being plain and simple, the t-shirt nevertheless helped to spread the message and the response was astounding; UNICEF raised at least $1 million every day for several days of the 1996 Olympics games.

There was no fixed price for this t-shirt as it was sold on auction. However, the highest bid was astounding as the bidder bought one t-shift for a whopping $42,000. And, to perfect the generous act, the bid came on the last day of the auction. Besides bearing no design, this simple t-shirt was nevertheless comfortable and of great quality as it was made of pure cotton.

Yet again, another of the five most expensive t-shirts in the world is a product of UNICEF. However, this line of t-shirts is more recent than the 1996 Olympics t-shirts, and anyone can get one for between $18 and $1000. However, there is no limit to the price you can pay for one, and one buyer forked out a whopping $300,000 to don one of these t-shirts.

Unlike the Olympics UNICEF t-shirt, the UNICEF Cargo Flight t-shirt bears a simple and relevant design on the front. The design features a flying plane dropping off boxes filled with supplies, and it is meant to symbolize the group’s mission and t-shirt’s purpose. What’s more, the design is in green color to advocate for a greener and better world. Besides that, the rest of the t-shirt is largely plain in white color. This t-shirt is also of great quality as it is made of pure cotton. What’s more, it is made for both men and women and blends in well with any pants. This, coupled with the knowledge that you have contributed to a good course, makes it comfortable to don with pride.

The title of the world’s most expensive t-shirt goes to the Superlative Luxury, a t-shirt that is yet to find an owner. The t-shirt largely bears its huge price tag because of its luxurious brand, but it is nevertheless exceptional in many aspects.

To start with, this t-shirt is made pure from green energy as the process utilizes solar energy and does not emit any CO2. To this end, it is made with the green consumer in mind, but it is unclear whether proceeds from its sale would go to a good course as is the case with the UNICEF t-shirts. Unlike other t-shirts under review, the Superlative Luxury also goes a long way to include an eye-catching design. To start with, it features a round pattern symbolizing a shining sun.

What’s more, the circular pattern is complemented by 16 certified diamonds, which help to justify the t-shirt’s exorbitant price. Besides that, however, the rest of the t-shirt is a plain black color. The Superlative Luxury goes for almost $400,000, making it the most expensive t-shirt in the world.
