2023 Chevrolet Corvette

Spies have been busy trying to capture footage of the new 2023 Corvette Z06. It’s Chevrolet’s latest big news. The announcement has Corvette fans on edge with wonder and high expectations. We were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the new model in advance of the pending official debut of the prototype on October 26, 2021. Chevrolet was kind enough to leak a few of its photos out to give us the juicy details that we can derive about the car visually.

What we know about the 2023 Corvette Z06

The Drive has taken an active interest in getting the scoop on the pending new model. They shared a photo that Chevy released in advance of the official debut to let us use our imaginations without firm confirmation of any real details. It’s still fun to take your best guess and find out later if you were right. The best guess at this point is that Chevy is going to offer the 2023 Corvette Z06 in a choice of two trims. Photos suggest two variants with noticeable differentiation in design features give us our first clue. It’s going to be a mid-engined sports car with a flat-plane crank V8 for one variant with enhanced aerodynamics. One photo shows a track-ready car that is likely the wild child, with a more scaled-down vehicle that offers a tamer personality.

Trim differences

The two photos suggest that each of the new trims for 2023 will be differentiated by their aero kits, as Chevy did with their Z07s. The Z06 and the V8 will further be distinguished by the side air intakes which will be more pronounced for the V8. The best guess has the engine pegged for a 5.5-liter that is akin to the engine in the C8 racer. The sound clips provided give you a clue that this is likely the case. The front-end of the new Corvette Z06 features a chiseled front splitter that sets the tone for the aesthetics and depicts this as an incredibly fast car. From a front side view, the car has a triangular shape that features aerodynamics that is capable of slicing through wind resistance and gaining more speed than its rounder-shaped counterparts. It’s built for speed with a sexy and sporty aesthetic. The first glance inspires jaw-dropping awe with a sleep yet tooled exterior body design that sloped the hood to allow the air to flow smoothly over the top Even the headlights are curved and rounded for the best aerodynamics. It has the appearance of a wind-cutter with slightly raised fenders that move up over the top to create the appearance of big shoulder muscles. The hood has a trenched center to allow air to flow through and over the top of the car at high speeds. It has the look of a channel, and we don’t need to guess what it’s for. Sharp angular contouring of the sides gives the car even more credence as a road warrior. The styling is among the most unique that we’ve seen come from Chevrolet.

Higher performance?

Every auto manufacturer sets out to deliver a new model that is a little better than its predecessor. This is particularly true when competition in the market is stiff, and that’s the issue they’re all facing currently. Chev’s new Corvette Z06 for 2023 is predicted to offer a level of performance that is even higher than the current Corvette Stingray. They’ve set the bar high but have yet to reveal any real details about the car and its specifics. For now, they’re letting us all stew in our juices and draw our conclusions about the upcoming Vette.

More speculation

Fox News points out the front end gets a revision from previous Vettes. It’s also gaining size for the side air intakes that significantly change its appearance from all angles. They stick out that far. They’re further predicting that if the 5.5-liter engine is the right guess, the car will crank more than 600 horsepower, possibly making it one of the brand’s most impressive supercars in production model runs to date.

When will we know more?

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is already scheduled to make its official debut on October 26, 2021. It’s believed that Chevy will disclose more details about the internal workings along with some new technologies it will come equipped with at that time. They’re going to put it out there for the world to see and examine for themselves, versus a few photos. It’s been a good tease, but that’s about all we know about it for now. The automaker has disclosed that the new Z06 is set to go on sale at some time in the early part of 2022. Due to supply chain issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the Corvette is currently sold out.

Final thoughts

We were privileged to get a peek t the new 2023 Corvette Z06 with just a taste of what is to come. We’re all anxiously awaiting the pending debut of the vehicle that is promised to look and sound like nothing we’ve ever seen or heard before. Chevy is playing their cards close to the vest and is not giving out any details until the official reveal. They’ve served us notice that it’s happening, but we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out if our best guesses hit the mark. Most haven’t even attempted to speculate about the electronics or infotainment systems at this point. We’re still wondering what the interior will look like and what kind of driver-assist and safety technology will be included. Stay tuned for more information on the availability, the price, and more information bout the available trims for the Z06. We may also see a new range of colors offered, but again, it’s only speculation at this point.
