Anyone who is looking for a department store credit card should consider the JCPenney Credit card. It is particularly advantageous if you frequently shop at the store and have an interest in saving money on purchases and earning rewards. They have an excellent cardholder rewards program and using the card can save you money on purchases that you would make anyway. Here are the details about this credit card and the ways that it could benefit you.

Annual Percentage Rate

The Annual Percentage Rate is also referred to as the APR. The JCPenney credit card has an introductory rate of zero percent for the first thirty six months after the account is opened. It is rare to find such a long introductory offer like this. Three years with no interest can amount to some amazing savings. After the introductory period, the regular APR is 26.99 percent iwth variable interest. There is no annual fee.

Deferred Interest

If you decide to make purchases of mattresses or furniture in the amount of fifteen hundred dollars or more, and you pay off the total balance within thirty six months, you will not be charged interest for the purchases.

Fraud Protection

If your card is lost or stolen, you are protected. You are responsible for notifying the issuing bank (Synchrony Bank) about the situation and they will help to protect you from credit card fraud and re-issue a new card for you.

Rewards Program

You can also benefit from making purchases with your JCPenney’s credit card through their generous rewards program. You’ll earn points for every purchase that you make and here is how it works.

Earn one point for every one dollar that you spend with the card on purchases which qualify. You will also save fifteen percent off of the regular price on selected items.

Apparel

Selected clothing items qualify for savings. These include the men’s department, women’s and children as well. You could rack up significant discounts and earn points at the same time when shopping for family clothing with your JCPenney’s credit card. It is actually a card that rewards you for shopping.

Furniture and mattresses

Use your card to furnish your home and replace old outworn mattresses with discounts and additional deferred interest options on some items. Other household items which may qualify include custom blinds and shades so you can dress your windows and make affordable payments as you go. You won’t need to wait to make the improvements to your home that you have been needing.

You will also receive fifteen dollars in Perk Rewards for purchasing shoes or bras.

Save five percent when you use your card to purchase major appliances and selections from Modern Bride Diamond Vault. This card can be a lifesaver if a major appliance wears out. Instead of waiting, you can put the purchase on your card and save money in the process. Additional rewards are earned when you reach Gold or Platinum status with qualifying purchases and points earned.

What kind of credit score do I need?

The card is issued to applicants who meet the creditworthiness standards established by Synchrony Bank. The required credit scores for qualification include Fair, Good and Excellent. If you have an established credit record and have had just a few issues in the past, it doesn’t mean that you won’t qualify. You don’t need to have perfect credit to qualify, although it is helpful. The application process is straight forward and you will generally have your answer within ten days of applying, although in many cases it is sooner.

Additional JCPenney Credit Card Information

If you are late for a payment the late fee is thirty seven dollars. You have a twenty three day grace period, but it’s always a good idea to make your payment on time to remain in good standing with the issuing bank.

How long does it take for the card to arrive once approved?

After you’ve completed the application and submitted all of the requested information, you’ll receive a decision. If you’ve been declined it is most likely because you either have a credit score that is below the acceptable limits established by the bank. Another reason could be if you have no income or don’t have a high enough income to be a safe credit risk for the issuer. If you are approved for the card, it will be mailed to the address that you provide on your application. Your new card should arrive within seven to ten business days.

How do I use the card?

The JCPenney Credit Card is only good for use at JCPenney retail stores or their online ordering. You cannot use it for any other purchases and cannot get cash advances or perform balance transfers. The card is strictly limited to JCPenney shopping. After you receive your card, you’ll want to call and actiate it and establish a personal identification number so you are the only one who can use your card. This helps to protect you from unauthorized user. Simply present the card at the checkout counter as you form of payment.
