As a popular reality show personality and socialite, Karen Huger has made quite a name for herself in recent years. Of course, this has led to a number of questions regarding Karen Huger net worth.
Thus far, her net worth has been pegged at a whopping $10 million, making her one of the richest housewives in the entire Real Housewives reality television universe.
While she is best known for her role on The Real Housewives of Potomac, the route that she took to get there was a winding one. Let’s take a closer look at how she got to this point and all of the fun that she’s had during her run on The Real Housewives of Potomac.
Karen Huger's Early Life
There are many who would have expected a socialite like Huger to have been raised a certain way but in reality? She actually grew up on a farm. In fact, it is a sizable farm that has been a part of her family for over 100 years now. Of course, this is not what most would have imagined her early life to be like. Her father was a very hard worker and instilled the value of hard work and perseverance.
From there, she attended the University of Virginia. Once she completed her degree, she set out on the path that would soon lead her to become the richest housewife on The Real Housewives of Potomac. This is why she is known as “The Grand Dame”‘. With a sizable nest egg like hers, everyone wants to know more about the businesses that she is involved with.
How Did Karen Huger Get Started As an Entrepreneur?
It all began when Karen Huger successfully launched her own fragrance. La’Dame by Karen Huger is sold in a number of different Bloomingdale’s locations around the country. In addition to Bloomingdale’s, it can also be found on Home Shopping Network and her own website. The La’Dame brand has not stopped there, either.
Thanks to Huger’s tireless efforts, the brand continues to grow and grow. La’Dame by KH X RPGSHOW was launched back in 2019 and the wig line collaboration has allowed the brand to expand even further. In addition to this development, Huger has been able to oversee successful launches for La’Dame by KH candle and the accompanying home fragrance gift set.
She’s even added to her non-entrepreneurial pursuits by taking on an executive producer role at Bravo. Huger was given the chance to do so when the Bravo special “Karen’s Grande Dame Family Reunion” came out. Huger was actually the first housewife from the Potomac cast to receive her own spin-off, as she was the star of a two-part special where she took the audience through a crucial life decision that she had to make regarding her family’s property in Virginia.
Karen Huger’s Philanthropic Pursuits
Huger loves her entrepreneurial pursuits, but she loves giving back to her community even more. As an ambassador and an advocate for the Promoting Awareness Victim Empowerment (PAVE) organization and the Alzheimer’s Association, she plays a key role in both organizations.
Karen wears many hats in this regard, as she also serves as the vice president on the board of directors for Felicia’s Fund. In Surry County (where she was raised), she has not forgotten where she came from. She was sworn in as a county official and also remains an ambassador for her hometown.
Karen Huger’s Alzheimer’s Connection
Like many of us, Huger’s connection to Alzheimer’s became far more real when she watched a family member go through it. As someone who has had to bury both of her parents, Huger decided that she would do everything in her power to help others to avoid the same fate.
Her mother passed away due to kidney failure and her father succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease. In her role with the Alzheimer’s Association, she regularly hosts charity fundraisers as a means of providing funding and raising awareness about this common disease.
Where Does Huger Stand on Female Empowerment?
It is not enough for Huger to merely speak out about various causes that are near and dear to her heart. She is also an outspoken advocate for women and regularly champions causes that are related to their empowerment. Karen takes her public speaking opportunities very seriously in this regard. In other words, it is not merely about making money for her.
Karen Huger Family Life
Of course, as one of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Huger is a family woman at heart. Her family will come first, regardless of anything else that she may have going on at the time. In addition to the pride that she has in her family, she is also very proud of all of the accomplishments that she has made alongside her husband Raymond. They have been married for nearly 30 years now and have borne two wonderful children, Brandon and Rayvin.
Raymond Huger Net Worth
Raymond is also rather successful in his own right. He has become the CEO of Paradigm, an information technology company. He made the jump after spending 25 years working for IBM as an area staff director and regional manager. Now, the company is generating more than $60 million in annual sales and was sold to a government contractor. Raymond may be worth $40 million himself but Karen has done more than her fair share to contribute to the family’s wealth.
Karen Huger Explains Her Upbringing
Since joining The Real Housewives of Potomac back in 2016, Huger has made quite a name for herself. As someone who throws over-the-top parties but maintains a more conservative nature, she occupies a unique place within the show. She is also notorious for taking a hard-line attitude toward her fellow stars.
That’s why she is considered one of the show’s “OGs”. As mentioned above, she was the first to receive her own spin-off. In a two-part series, she took viewers back to her hometown in Surry County, Virginia.
In the wake of her parents’ passing, she had to decide on a succession plan for the estate that they had built over the course of their lives. So why did she decide to allow Bravo to bring their camera crew into her home estate for a whole series? Her reasoning may surprise you.
“At this time in our country, when we’re encouraged not to talk about Black history, we were honored, as a Black family, to talk about Black history,” Karen told E! News when the spin-off series was initially aired. “Not only talk about it, but talk about the plan to move forward. How do we keep this wonderful land of ours alive for the next 100 years? It was a poignant moment, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. It needs to be spoken about more.”
“What I learned lifted us and empowered us even more. We knew we were bad, that we were something special. We just didn’t know how special we were. Slavery didn’t tarnish that. It actually ignited us, and we were able to repurpose that. When you know from whence you come, there’s no stopping you.”
