As an adult, Harris’ film debut was in the 1995 film ‘Animal Room.’ Also, in the late 1990s, he had roles in ‘Starship Troopers’ and ‘The Proposition.’ His films in the early 2000s included ‘The Next Big Thing,’ ‘Undercover Brother,’ ‘Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle,’ and ‘The Golden Blaze.’ In 2005, Neil Patrick Harris landed the role of Barney Stinson in the CBS hit sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’. It was a role that he played until 2014, and it is one of the roles for which he is best-known. He was nominated for multiple Emmy Awards for his performance over this period.

He then played the lead role of Bobby in a 2011 production of ‘Company.’ From March to August 2014, Harris played the titular role in the first Broadway production of ‘Hedwig and the Angry inch,’ for which he won a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He had previously hosted the Tony Awards for four consecutive years, from 2010 to 2014.
