10 Things You Didn't Know about Relic Watches

Most things in life have a history behind them, and Relic Watches are no exception. You will notice that while their design looks great, you can get them at a lower price than most luxury brands. Moreover, that is the exact reason Fossil decided to make the Relic Brand. Fossil was established in 1984, as a high-end luxury brand and it did not perform as expected. The timing was partly to blame because back then, wristwatches were still the primary time piece used by men in all classes of society. If they had launched the Fossil brand today, may we would not have had the Relic Brand. In that regard, let us look at some interesting secrets behind the Relic Watches.

1. The Relic Watch is a “Plan B.”

Many households chose to ignore the highly priced Fossil brand because back then few people viewed watches the same way we do today. They had no reason to spend as much money on a newly launched luxury watch as they would on jewelry. To counter that perception in order to remain in business, Fossil decided to do what any business does; give the customer what they want. They launched the budget Relic watch, which was functional and had a luxury look. It worked, and that is how the Relic watch came to be.

2. Short Lifespan

Just like any other item you can buy in the market, you get what you pay for in the Relic watch. Fossil designed the relic watches to last for 1 to 2 years of heavy wear. However, you can extend their life span to 5 years with light wear. Overall, they are made to look great on your wrist without investing so much in your resources in their design. That s why they come at a budget price, however, if you want the same design but one that lasts longer, then go for the luxury Fossil brand.

3. Similarity with Fossil Brand

If you look at both the Fossil brand and the Relic brand, you will notice that their appearance is quite similar. They share the same design, although the materials used to make each brand are different. In the Fossil brand, you have all the bells and whistles of a quality luxury brand, and in the Relic brand, you get the look but a just a little of quality.

4. Exterior Coating

The Relic watch will lose its exterior coating and colorization after 1 or 2 years. However, you will notice that the actual components of the watch will keep going for many years. The components are not made from materials used to make luxury watches, but the design is top notch. You therefore lose the glitter but not the watch’s precision and functionality.

5. Target Market

The Relic brand targets teens and young adults who want watch that looks great, but have a limited budget. Generally, buyers in that demographic don’t hold onto items such as watches for long, which makes the Relic brand an ideal choice for them.

6. Designed in US but Manufactured in China

As you may have expected, although the design is American, the manufacturing process takes place in China and the APAC region. They took that step to lower production costs. However, that applies to the Relic brand only, the Fossil Brand has Swiss-made watches, but they come at a premium price and in limited production.

7. Relic Watch Warranty

As a way to reassure you of their quality, the Relic watches come with a functionality warranty of 12 months. The warranty does not cover the exterior coating, just the functionality of the watch’s components.

8. Shipping Fee

When you send back the Relic watch, you will incur some handling and shipping fee of about $8.50 as at the time of writing this article. The fee applies to any requesting related to the warranty or servicing.

9. After-Sales Service

If you wish to repair or service your Relic watch after the warranty has elapsed, Relic will be ready to do it for you. However, you will foot the bill, which is $18.50 for the battery and $45.00 for repairs the 12-month warranty does not cover. The repair fee does not include the shipping fee.

10. Vintage Design

If you are looking for a vintage design but don’t want to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars, the Relic watches will offer you what you need.

Overall, Relic Watches are great and they offer a balance between price and quality. If you need a watch that you can wear occasionally to events, than this might be what you are looking for. We hope that you found this list of interesting features of Relic watches to be informative, and you make an informed purchase.
