A Closer Look at the 2022 KTM 890 Duke R

2022 KTM 890 Duke R

KTM recently announced its plan of revealing a special upgrade of the 890 Duke GP version on February 22. The KTM 890 Duke R is reputable for its sharp-looking appearance with performance to match. And now, the 2022 KTM 890 Duke R comes with hyper-fast steering geometry and an upgraded new look that maintains pace with the way it handles. Now let’s have a closer look at the 2022 KTM 890 Duke R and what it offers.

KTM 890 Duke R Overview

The new model now features a renewed paint option similar to the RC16 motorcycles with which KTM contests in the Moto GP. The new lusterless color is known as Atlantic Blue and contrasts greatly with the orange 890 DUKE R frame. The new color is also available on the larger 1290 Super Duke R. Besides the new color scheme, the 2022 KTM 890 Duke R motorcycle is unchanged. Therefore, while you might be a bit upset that the immense release comes with only a color rejuvenate, Asphalt & Rubber still categorizes the KTM 890, Duke R, as one of the best sports bikes available in the market.

2022 KTM 890 R Duke Specs Highlights

  • New graphics and color with orange powder-coated frame and Atlantic Blue base. The Atlantic Blue base reminds us of the remarkable RC16GP race bike and the more recent 1290 Duke R.
  • Robust BREMBO Stylema brake calipers corresponding with light 320 mm floating front discs give unmatched stopping power and a 1.2 kg (2.6 lbs.) decrease of unsprung weight.
  • Modifiable, innovative WP Apex forks that provide high-quality damping split function for exceptional stability, response, and adjustability. This makes it an excellent racer in all riding conditions.
  • Enormously robust, 889 ccs torquey parallel-twin DOHC engine with automated fuel injection, dual balancer shafts, six extra horsepower than the previous KTM 890 Duke model and PASC slipper clutch.
  • Completely modifiable WP Apex shock that gives low and high-speed compression settings and rebound alteration. A hydraulicly adaptable preload adjuster lets fast and easy alteration on the fly.
  • Precise, ultralight tubular Chromium Molybdenum steel frame and a cast-aluminum subframe. These materials make the bike one of the most reliable and durable out there.

Features

The KTM 890 Duke R is known as the Super Scalpel because of the lightning-fast steering geometry. Courtesy of the load-bearing design of its adjustable WP Apex suspension and tubular steel chassis, it is still the undisputed middleweight naked motorcycle on the race track and twisty mountain. It generates more power, intense asphalt-carving agility, and torque than other parallel bikes in the section. While this new model has exceptional forward momentum and nimbleness, the KTM 890 Duke R is also excellent when braking. Brembo Stylema Monoblock calipers handle the braking properties. These are coupled with upfront 320 mm floating discs and rear 240 mm disk. These help the Super Scalpel stop as precisely and quickly as it attacks apexes. The KTM 890 Duke R has Michelin Power Cup 2 tires and a front Brembo MCS master cylinder that enables the rider to adjust for lever ratio and comfortable brake feel in all weather conditions. The Super Scalpel features a TFT display that automatically acclimatizes its luminosity. The KTM 890 Duke R comes with three riding modes; street, sport, and rain. It also gets another riding mode known as Ultimate. The Ultimate mode is optional and allows customization for riders when it comes to traction control with nine levels, throttle control, and wheelie control (switched on and off). Depending on the chosen mode, the motorbike traction control enables several levels of adjustable traction.

When it comes to electronic components, the KTM 890 Duke R uses the Cornering MTC and ABS with a 6D slim angle sensor ensures perfect detection of the roll (side-to-side) and pitch (forwards and backward) of the motorcycle. This also helps in detecting the rotation of the bike on the vertical axis. The ABS modes and optional Quick shifter match the engine speed to one of the lesser gears when downshifting. This results in inclusive traction control management via a pitch angle control sensor and a wheel slip control sensor. As stated earlier, the main difference is that the 2022 KTM 890 Duke R comes with a premium hue of matt paint known as Atlantic blue. This color is evocative of the model used on the RC16 GP bike racer and, more lately, the 1290 Duke R, adding the Ready to Race character to the Super Scalpel. Distinctive of all the ‘Duke R’ motorcycle models by KTM, the unique orange frame goes on to offer excellent color contrast and enhance its Ready to Race character. It is this color contrast that adds to the motorcycle’s already elegant look. With the 2022 KTM 890 Duke R’s new look to match its character and performance, it once more promises to be a track-ready machine you will want to ride daily. As expected, a comprehensive range of the uniquely created KTM Power Parts has been advanced to customize and further intensify your ride. A wide range of KTM Power Wear will ensure you get the most out of yourself while improving the bike’s Ready to Race performance.

Price and Release Date

The 2022 KTM 890 new model will be available on approved KTM dealers from February. The price is yet to be revealed, but you can look out at the official KTM website for more details. According to KTM, this new KTM 890 Duke R will be more track-focused and is projected to be the flagship of the 890 families of motorcycles.

Bottom Line

That’s it! We hope you have a clear idea of the upcoming new model. This 2022 KTM 890 Duke R provides a compact, lightweight, and razor-sharp ‘R’ model that gives the best out of ‘Duke’ thanks to enhanced torque and power over the previous model adjustable WP Apex suspension and Brembo brakes. Ultimately, this is a perfect machine for motorcyclists looking for a more extreme biking experience with a sharp new look.
