A Closer Look at the Super Soaker Inspired Jordan Why Not Zer0.2
For some manufacturer’s, getting a product to hit the shelves does not take much thought so long as it is something that customers want. However, some products undergo a lengthy and thorough process before they can leave the factory. The Super Soaker Inspired Jordan Why Not Zer0.2 is one such product and Russell Westbrook has delivered his second signature performance shoe through it. Since signing with the Jordan Brand more than six years ago, Russell has made significant impacts in basketball such as the release of his first signature shoe and two off-the-court lifestyle silhouettes. Apart from the fact that it continues to gain demand, here is something else you should know about the Jordan Why not Zer0.2
Construction
The shoe has been dubbed ” Future History” and maybe for Russell Westbrook that is what the Why Not Zer0.2 is doing; redefining the future and telling the history all at the same time. This shoe has a deconstructed approach since you can easily recognize each of the parts from the different materials. Apart from that, the Why Not zer0.2 is multi-colored.
At first, the Why Not Zer0.2 may look like it is a chaotic mix of different colors, but for Russell, every color is meant to be on that shoe. Russell is telling his story through the Why Not Zer0.2, and he said every color had a special meaning for him, with each one being a reference to a uniform that helped to define his career to this day. While some use words and pictures to tell their story, Westbrook chose something different; colors, as he sought to take storytelling to the next level.
Family Ties
One thing that remains true for all of us is that we all have a family, no matter how disconnected sometimes we get. That is why you will find people having pictures of their family members at work, in the car and even in their wallets. For Westbrook, his family is one of the things he loves, the game being the other one of course. For this reason, he included his family crest on the shoe’s inner tongue. Still, someone said that family is not always blood and this happens to be true for Westbrook who keeps honoring his late best friend, Khelcey Barrs III.
The Why Not Zer0.2 has a black sole on which there is “KBIII,” something that has become a tradition in all his game shoes, in honor of his late friend. Westbrook said that each colorway of the Super Inspired Jordan Why not Zer0.2 will have a designated space on which he can write that. For him, it is vital that people who wear these shoes get to understand that while playing is good, it is crucial to play with a purpose bigger than oneself.
Game-focused
Westbrook designed the shoe specifically to improve control of his game and not to adhere to any current fashion trends. Therefore, from the start, Westbrook was determined to get the best performance shoe for basketball. He consequently set out to be authentic hence introduced the ” Why Not?” mentality such that he would do what meant something for him regardless of the opinions of other people.Still, as a result of being confident in who he is, Westbrook managed to bring out a shoe that displays the Why Not? Mentality.
Youth-inspired
Westbrook has remained committed to inspire the young generation ever since he joined the league. He does this through charitable work, and he has always encouraged the youth to follow their dreams while also instilling the Why Not Me? Message. For this reason, Westbrook wanted to make the shoe affordable to all; hence he ensured that the Jordan Brand design, though provides premium performance, is still accessible. Also, being a father inspired Westbrook to have the shoe in all sizes for the family, something that sets it apart from other performance shoes that focus on the men’s adult size. For Westbrook, inspiring the next generation is essential for him and what better way than to have them know they can be anything they set their minds to, even basketball league players.
Release date
The Why Not Zer0.2 made its debut in the global market on January 10, 2019, when it was released in men’s sizes for $130. Later on in the month, in line with Westbrook’s focus of full family sizing, the shoe became available in all sizes.
